People who really think I'm a hippie.

Apparently popular opinion is that long hair is enough requirement for one to become a hippie. This is false; this is very false.

Lately, I've developed a habit of yelling "F**k you, hippie!!" when cornered in an argument, just like when the "squares" in the old days would blame anyone who went against their opinions (That is, the hippies.). Of course, a common rubuttal from the other side always shoots back with "I'm a hippie?! Look at you!"

WOW I'VE NEVER GOTTEN THAT BEFORE, U R TEH EDGY.

It's time for this nonsense to end. As Andre would say, shut your dumbass and let me hit you with some knowledge.

And so, since it's 3 AM and I can't sleep, I made this image which should clear everything up.

Image

Some other stuff I couldn't really point out with that picture (It's the best one I could find, give me a break.):
- Chin scruff, neatly shaved. Hippies go all out with the facial hair.
- Money. I have it. And a job, for that matter.
- No acoustic guitar.
- A taste for hard rock and metal. AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, and Avenged Sevenfold, anyone?
- Meat: I eats it.
- I love me some Jesus. Hippies worship themselves. Or Timothy Leary.
- YAY SPORTS.
- Hello, my name is Soap, and these are my friends Shampoo and Body Wash.

I hope we have reached an understanding.

You're far to self-conscious. I've had long hair on-and-off for a long while, and I've been called a hippie, a ***, a chick (from afar mistakenly, and up close, quite not mistakenly), freak, and an emo (I don't even have ****ing emo hair) because of it. I don't give a crap. This is the 21st century. People look different. Just because some old lady down the street or a few wannabe-ganstas think my hair looks ghey, doesn't mean I should throw a fit over it.

If you tell someone "Shut up, hippie!" and they reply by saying how much you look like a hippie, well, face it, hippies have long hair. That doesn't make you one, but it makes you look like one to some people. Plus, you're kind of asking for it by saying "shut up, hippie". It's like a dwarf telling you "Shut up, midget!" or something like that. I'm up too early to make any good analogies, so take that.

Finally... I know the ads that appear at the top and/or bottom of the pages are derived from the topic subject or content, but nonetheless I found this to be rather humorous.

When in Rome, do as the Romans do.
So.....
What happens when Romans feel out of place?

People used to think I was hiiigh on stage, because people associate long hair with drug use. I wish long hair was associated with something other than drug use. Like an extreme longing for cake. Then strangers would see a long haired guy and say, That guy eats cake. He is on bundt cake. Mothers would say to their daughters, Dont bring the cake eater over here anymore! He smell like flour. Did you see how excited he got when he heard your birthday was fast approaching?

It's great that you're taking the time to clear up common misconceptions about the hippie lifestyle. It's true that the traditional hippie look of long hair and facial hair is no longer the norm, and that many people who identify with the hippie lifestyle don't fit that stereotype.

It's also true that hippies don't necessarily subscribe to any one religion, though many do follow a spiritual or non-traditional path. But it's important to remember that there are many different types of hippies, and that their beliefs and lifestyles can vary greatly.

Thanks for sharing your own unique perspective on hippie culture. It's always nice to hear from those who are able to look at things from a different angle. "
