I'm hoping I can find the time to put some more work into this project soon. I've been enjoying other hobbies (like actually playing the video games I spent hundreds of moneys on), sorry if anyone's disappointed about the lack of updates.

I will tell you all that, to date, I have done portraits for the NPCs in the following areas:

Terial
Treasure Hunters' Guild
Forest's Edge Village
City by the Sea
Path of the Fist Dojo
Paranoid Village
Bslap Field
Silver Tunnels
Floating Point Town
Bslap Fields

Mmmmmkay, so I haven't done anything in a long while, but Crav has some new ideas for areas, and I jumped on the bandwagon to finish a new background last night. The new area should be a bit of a treat, since I'm planning to do all of the backgrounds.

If I keep the pace up, I might have time to do a full redraw of most of the backgrounds in the game, but that might be a large undertaking. If I do, I'll try and do things area-by-area as I did with the new portraits.

If anyone's got suggestions about areas, enemies, etc, give us a shout.

Wow, redrawing all the backgrounds is a pretty huge task, but if you do go for it, it would be really cool to explore everything again.

In fact, I would even join in and restructure previous enemies and items from those areas and eventually wipe everybody's characters so that everyone could start fresh. Things have become kind of messy, and setting all players on equal footing might finally encourage more people to hop in.

All of the backgrounds for the newest area are finished. Now completing the remaining bit pieces. Hopefully we'll have something to show very soon. I'd love to show the screens myself, but I don't want to spoil the area just yet!

Do you guys have any use for ff6-ish pixel art rpg enemies? I understand that they might be too far outside of the current style, but if you're interested they're available.

Howdy. I've kept my attentions away from the enemy side of things as much as possible, because there's really just too many ways for me to spend my time. Can't do everything as a single artist, and unless we're working in a professional manner, we'd just end up with a "too many cooks in the kitchen" vibe for the artwork. So the enemy art is kind of "anything goes" still, because enemy pictures are easy to come by and would require near as much effort from me as the other facets of the game.

BTW, there's been some brief talk of making a much more polished standalone app based off this stuff, once we get more original material in the game. If you're interested in contributing, you're more than welcome to stick around. I can't promise it'll get huge exposure, but it would be a welcome change from being the sole artist on the project, I'm sure.

@Cravdraa: thanks! Yes, they're mine. Thankfully, I've improved some since I last posted sprites here...
@Culmination: I can definitely understand that. Unfortunately, at the moment I have almost more on my plate than I can handle, but if that changes I'll be sure to keep this in mind.
edit: btw, I'm assuming that the bank was removed or something? That's a little disappointing, if only because I have like 200 messages saying the equivalent of "You have received 61660 Gil which has been added to your bank account here at Marians Bank as scheduled by our interest policy." xD

A while back we fixed the bank to be less broken.
There are plans to revamp the rpg to fix things up anyway, and once that's done we'll probably restart the game so that everyone has a clean slate. But until that, I can give you back some spending money if you'd like.
