Quick summary (spoilers):

1. It takes place in 2036, 1 year after Aria of Sorrow, and it is a direct sequel that follows the best ending.
2. The touch screen will be the one that actually displays the gameplay image, and you are often required to trace a pattern on it to seal enemies. The main screen will be a map.
3. Still seems like there is no Dracula, but every character that didn't die in AoS is back.

Shweet. Next to Symphony of the Night, AoS is the best Castlevania in my opinion.

Oh darn. I was hoping it would be more like the Nintendo 64 Castlevanias.

Gamespot's coverage on Castlevania DS:
http://www.gamespot.com/ds/action/castl ... index.html

Soma's facial features in his new artwork actually looks masculine, by generic anime standards, anyway. Mina and Yoko actually have some color in their faces this time.

Try watching the trailer if you have a fast connection. Not surprisingly, the second screen is used for the map and menus. There is a bit of interesting use of the stylus: Apparently, you can use it to break ice blocks on the screen. My guess is that it is also used in other ways to interact with the castle environments.

Some features cut from Symphony of the Night, probably due to lack of buttons, processing power, and memory, make their return. For one thing, it looks like Soma has some fighting game style moves, which he used during a bit of the trailer against the werewolf. It also looks like the annoying turning physics from SotN is back.

Expect some new ways of maneuvering Soma in this game. Judging from the use of the doll to teleport, and rolling jump, and a mid-air jump in one of the spiked rooms, Soma got some movement abilities in addition to the double jump, high jump, and slide of the standard Castleroids. Obviously, I do not assume these will be useful or game-altering, but they will provide for some new tricks of locomotion. It would be a shame if IGA didn't make this game a sequence breaking paradise like Metroid: Zero Mission.

PS: Too bad your connection isn't fast enough to enjoy this tantalizing 20 mb trailer, eh Wyborn?

I see that Soma has more than just power earned by absorbing the soul of Dracula...kinda sucks that, yet again, poor Mina seems to be on someone's "hit list"...I must get this game when it comes out on 8/30/2005....(incase your wondering where I got the date from, check the Gamespot information about the game...)
