I regret to inform everyone that Carrie Fisher died today.

^She was a strong mental health advocate. She managed to be a prominent public face living with mental illness. She's done a lot to destigmatize being depressed, being bipolar, having struggles with addiction, etc.

She was deeply flawed, but that's what many admired about her.

Exactly - not just a feminist icon as many articles like to call her, but she has always been a tough cookie and really open about her mental health struggles.

That comment was a tad uncalled for.

**** hell, her mother Debbie Reynolds (a Hollywood icon in her own right having starred in movies like Singin' in the Rain and How the West Was Won) had a stroke yesterday apparently and passed away today.

This has gotta be rough on that family, I can't imagine what they're going through.

I heard she had the stroke today. It happened at her son's house when she was helping plan Carrie's funeral.

That poor family. Especially Carrie's daughter, Billie Lourd. She's only 24 and just lost her mother and grandmother.

It was probably regarding the "too young" statement, considering Boo probably acknowledges that she was pretty well-lived at 60. It is very sad to see her go, however, at whatever age. Don't take it hard, it's just a difference in how others use those words.

When my friend died at 20, for instance, he was definitely young. Barely even out of school, and never really got to live his life unfettered. I don't find it disrespectful that you or anyone else might've hoped that Carrie had a few more years left. She definitely had a lot to give.

Actually, I was expressing skepticism over the assertion that Carrie Fisher was a great role model. Frankly, I'd much rather see River turn out like Marie Curie or Margaret Hamilton or some such-------------the thought of her (or Maxy, or Emmy) winding up an alcoholic fills me with profound horror.

Oh, and considering how little care she took of herself (vis-a-vis drugs, alcohol and chronic obesity), I'd say she had a pretty long life, all in all.

I think she still had an admirable and strong outlook on the things life threw at her -- I didn't see her as a crappy person despite all that. She was still successful in a few different areas and many people who struggle with mental illness, alcoholism, etc. cannot hold a lot of things going on in their lives together. Even other people with money and success.

So if I had to reword it I would say a great role model for people who struggle with similar things.

^ I don't know a thing about her except her parent/s were actor/s so she was born with one of the greatest advantages a person can be, money and connections. I wouldn't pat her on the back for being at all successful considering that--you have to be a **** up of legendary proportions not to. Not picking on her at all, R.I.P, but just throwing that out there.

^^I mean, I wasn't tryin to slag off on her. She was all right. Learned from her mistakes and all. Hell, drug and alcohol problems have killed a lot of entertainers a hell of a lot younger than 60-----------it's good she got clean, and I'm certainly not happy she's died.

Nah, it's okay dude! I was just explaining myself a bit. I don't think any of us are happy about it. Her mother now, too -- how tragic. R.I.P.

It seems like even until the last second 2016 keeps killing people. Debbie Reynolds died last night too.

As did Robert Hussleman, the man who invented red Solo cups. Whyyyy.
