I pretty much agree with her but don't think giving the characters powers is a good idea, and having a 50/50 split between male/female for the team is even more pointless than making the team just women.
Agree or disagree with her views?

I'll watch this when I get off work but just to respond to what you've already said: "having a 50/50 split between male/female for the team is even more pointless than making the team just women."
AGREE COMPLETELY????? The whole point of having the team just women, and the reason so many people (mostly women) were so excited about it, was to- for the first time like ever- provide main roles in a goofy sci-fi exclusively to women, as a reaction to DECADES of these roles being available exclusively to men. Splitting it 50/50 would literally still piss off everyone who was pissed off about the all-female cast, and wouldn't even provide as many fun roles for women, so literally what would the point be.

^Truth. I couldn't care less what a movie's subject matter is, the genre, the actors. I've found good movies across the board. Quality is what matters to me, not the ephemeral trivia, and the trailers make the new GB flick look about as appealing as a dog's dinner.
...wuff. You know, I feel sorry for the ladies and progressives, in this instance. I bet there's more than a few who'll go to see the new GB flick out of a sense of obligation, like, to show the studios there's an audience for all-female sci-fi/action casts. And then they'll watch the movie, and walk out of the theatre quietly dreading the next time they feel so obliged, or at least wishing they'd just stayed home and watched 'A League of Their Own' again instead.

Haven't watched anything yet, but there was no way this was going to go over well. If they wanted to do a sequel, they should've had the older characters in it as some sort of passing the torch moment, also, we already know they're ancient and decrepit and I think Bill is actually already a ghost himself.
Actually, that would've been good for a plot. The ghostbusters die and are ghosts now and they are like the cops in the ghost jail and they have to bust ghosts in the afterlife but they are basically just mass killers but of ghosts.

I saw one of the new trailers yesterday. It had a fart noise, and someone fell down on her butt. Ahahaa. Comedy gold.
...you know, guys, call me hopelessly cynical, but I think the new GB movie might not be very good (and that isn't just my misogyny talking, for once). I mean, I think the new TMNT flick looks silly, but each new ad makes me want to see it a little more.
Like, I think the 'Ghostbusters' guys misunderstand the meaning of the word "teaser". It's supposed to 'tease' in the sense of tantalising you, making you eager for the product. Here the ads 'tease' in the sense of mocking you. "Hahaha! Remember last year, when you thought a GB flick starring all ladies had potential? Watch and despair, bitch!"

So far I've seen 4 different trailers, & only 2 had jokes that even made me smile (1 each). One of those "good" trailers was stashed away on the Blu-Ray of Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, so I only saw it because (a) we watched at my girlfriend's place instead of my place, since I don't have a Blu-Ray player, & (b) I was waiting for my girlfriend to come back into the room & hadn't bothered skipping to the menu yet.
It's almost like the marketing department wants the movie to fail or something.
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I don't remember ever thinking it had potential. =P

^ Yes, and that's because you had already made up your mind that a GB film starring four women couldn't possibly be good, solely because it was starring four women. The rest of us waited for clips of the movie itself before deciding that it is probably going to be garbage. ;)
(Not because it is starring four women, but by its own virtue. Or lack thereof.)

Look at the trailer though (if you can stomach to). It isn't painful because they're women. If the cast was men and had the exact same script and trailers it would still be bad. The movie is bad because it's bad. We should at least judge garbage on its own lack of merit, rather than the gender of the cast.

Agreed, this film would suck regardless of gender. I'd still dock a point for needless gender swap just on principle. So 0/10 if it's men and -1/10 for it as it is.
In an alternate universe where the Ghostbusters were originally female (assuming it was still a good movie without the legendary cast it had) I'm still docking a point for the gender swap to male in this movie.

Fair enough, if you hate gender swaps you hate gender swaps. So long as that's the real cause for the point being docked.

FINALLY I'M OFF WORK I CAN LISTEN TO FOB/MISSY ELLIOTT!!!!!!!
