The creator of the Simpsons and Futurama is working on a Netflix-exclusive animated series.

It's been a while since Groening made an all new series. Color me interested.

Interesting, to say the least. I wonder if it will have the Simpsons/Futurama style, or if he'll branch out.

Not sure he has anything left. Simpsons has sucked for a long time and Futurama sucked when it was brought back, so at best this series will have a good first season.

I'd say it depends more on who he gets on board to write/produce it. I'd say Groening probably doesn't have a huge impact on an individual episode on either show unless he decides he wants to be in the writers room. He hasn't had head writing credits on a Simpsons episode in years and only did the first two episodes when Futurama came back. Most of the overall authority/tone-setting for the show goes to the showrunner, who's basically the head writer. Groening hasn't been the showrunner since season 2 of the Simpsons (depending on who you ask, the series started to decline when either Mike Scully took over in season 9 or Al Jean took over in season 13. It was probably somewhere in between). Groening was never the showrunner for Futurama, that went to David X. Cohen.

I thought Futurama held up when it came back.

I liked what I saw of the first season that came back. Never watched the rest because I lost track of it with so many other great comedies out there

It lost the spark, in my opinion. Then again, I'm incredibly picky when it comes to TV, as I usually never watch it so it needs to be gold to maintain my interest. So I guess it wasn't really bad but it didn't live up to the originals is all.

I have yet to really find something lacking with regards to Netflix Original Programming. Like I kinda hate House of Cards but I respect a lot of the direction and acting (it's just the Godawful plot that's unbearable), and Arrested Development is a clear step down from the original seasons but still good.

Everything else ranges from good (Love, Master of None, Daredevil, Wet Hot American Summer) to brilliant (OITNB, Jessica Jones, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Bojack Horseman)

oh wait i just remembered fuller house is on netflix i take everything back
