The toys are back in town one more time. In an announcement we’ve been expecting for a long time, the CEO of Disney Bob Iger has revealed that Pixar will release Toy Story 4 on June 16, 2017. John Lasseter will return to direct “a new chapter in the lives of Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the “Toy Story” gang.” More on the long history of Toy Story 4 and its release date after the jump.
The movie will feature the toys trying to cope as Bonnie goes to college.

I was just about to say, that is literally what happened in Toy Story 3 except replace Bonnie with Andy.

I can't imagine what else they could milk with this save a typical TV show of the everyday adventures of toys.

Then again the article shows how they had this mind way back and apparently it's a "love story theme". So who knows? Maybe that's not the full story.

Bo Peep returns, but she has fused with the corpses of other toys to survive. As a result, she has become a feral monster that hunts down toys. Mr. Potato Head is her first victim in the film, and in the end Woody dies while finally bringing her down. Buzz holds his body in his arms, and is all, "you were the best deputy we could had." Roll credits.

"For the record, that's Toy Story 4, which has just been announced for the first time, in 2017, & The Incredibles 2, which was announced like a year ago, in heck-if-we-know."

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Is Val the only person getting tired of all these sequels?

Val hopes Inside Out doesn't suck.

‘Toy Story 4’ Will Not Be a Direct Sequel to ‘Toy Story 3’
Toy Story 3 wrapped up the Toy Story trilogy so perfectly, many fans were left wondering how exactly the recently announced Toy Story 4 will continue that storyline. We have our first insight into Pixar's plans for Toy Story 4, and it turns out that they're not even going to try.

Pixar president Jim Morris spoke to Disney Latino (via Slashfilm) and said that while it's still very early in Toy Story 4's development, they're not looking to follow-up directly with any of the previous Toy Story films.

I think this movie is not part of this trilogy. It is a separate story, which in turn I do not know if will be continued [...] It is not a continuation of the end of the story of Toy Story 3. Temporarily it is, but it will be a love story. It will be a romantic comedy. It will not put much focus on the interaction between the characters and children.

With Andy's story essentially complete, it seems smart to focus solely on the toys instead of introducing yet another child, or continuing on with Bonnie, the little girl at the end of Toy Story 3. Instead it looks like Woody (or Buzz) will be falling in love, and possibly even getting married.

The Toy Story 4 script is being written by actress Rashida Jones and Will McCormack, who worked together previously on Celeste and Jesse Forever. The story for the film is based on an idea by John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter and Lee Unkrich that Morris called “irresistible”. Morris says that they're planning a table read of the script in the next few days.

Toy Story 4 opens in theaters on June 16, 2017.

Even the third was too much and too late. This is overkill.

I've been on tumblr too long I read that quote as "Woody (and Buzz) getting married" and I was like well alrighty then

My reaction is still basically the same tbh. Alrighty then. Toy Story 3 made for a good trilogy ending although I 100% agree it was unnecessary and succeeded largely due to timing/marketing off of 90's kids nostalgia... after that ending though further movies feel kinda irrelevant

I can see them hooking Buzz & Woody up in this day and age, like some R34 kick in the childhood.
