I don't understand?

It's a popular TV series based off of a popular book series. It's pretty cool actually.

I thought it was going to be something like Twilight only with dragons and things in it.

What gave you that impression at all?

I'll humor you though because it's like 4:20 in the morning (#blazeit) and I'm not close to falling asleep and there's really nothing better to do for me right now

Game of Thrones is a super-popular show on HBO. It's a phenomenon, really. It's one of those shows that hip people say you have to watch, akin to The Wire or Breaking Bad or Lost or Community or something. It's based on the A Song of Ice and Fire series of fantasy novels written by George R.R. Martin. The story is based on the politics in a fictional land of Westeros. Basically, everybody wants to be king or at least have influence on the king for their own reasons. It's very character-driven as each person in their story has their different motivations. It's also a very grey show morality-wise, a lot more complex than "these are the good guys" and "these are the bad guys." The seemingly irredeemable may do something to prove themselves worthy or the seemingly noble may commit unforgivable atrocities. It's also wildly unpredictable which is what helps make the show so popular, because you really don't know what's gonna happen and it's a perfect conversation-starter around the watercooler. It has some impeccable acting, some great direction, and an epic scope that really makes it stand as one of the best shows on television.

It is exactly like that if you leave out everything from episode 1 onward.

It's a boring and overrated pile of popular ****. Couldn't sit through the first episode without passing out.

Season 4 better be a trillion times better than that snorefest of a pilot episode. A good show needs to start off good. That's also why I couldn't get into Breaking Bad. They try starting off fast with Walter in his meth van and underwear, but then we get an hour of his retarded son and bitchy wife.

The first episode alone has corpses come back from the dead, guys being killed by some mysterious creature, an execution, a huge wolf, an king's entourage arriving at a castle, attempted murder, a walk through a tomb, political intrique, and most of that is just the first 30 minutes.

It also has a **** ton of talking. You sure that wasn't all stuff that happened in conversation only?

a lot of good shows start out absolutely horrible

why can't these people just kill each other and nobody explain why they're killing each other

^^ Like what? Just seems like horrible TV to me.

^ Plenty of games do that. The Walking Dead sticks you right into a zombie apocalypse, no questions asked. I swear, gaming is going to overtake film eventually.

Game of Thrones is also stuck in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. It is just that the zombies are very slow and take 6 or 7 books to get to densly populated areas.
