The Yamcha Hate

Why does everyone hate the character? I can't type anything in without getting something about him being weak. At least most of the memes are pretty funny but it's like a fad now, to the point where people on forums will immediately discount him in nearly any Death Match.
He's one of my favorite characters, very funny in Dragon Ball and extremely powerful in DBZ!
What do you think of it all?

Because his greatness as a fighter was always touted, but never proven. Ever since he joined the good guys, his role was to get slapped around by the villain of the week so all the other characters could stare in shock and wonder out loud how the mighty Yamcha could have possibly been defeated, though since his second battle with Goku he's almost never won any fights.

After Dragon Ball, a lot of characters got pushed to the wayside because "SAIYAN POWER". Sometimes they'd do something but it was always one of the main characters that won in the end. Yamcha is noticed the most because the only thing he does in DBZ is die to a Saibaman.

But that's what I don't get. Although they weren't major battles, Yamcha has certainly proved his greatness as a fighter. In Dragon Ball, DBZ filler, movies, and a few video games, Yamcha has defeated numerous soldiers and some powerful warriors, and did well in every World Martial Arts Tournament in which he participated, and held his own against the more powerful warriors he couldn't defeat. In fact, his Power Levels have been stated to be as high as 1,500,000 through Dragon Ball media and much higher through "Power Scaling."
He certainly did get stuck with that crappy role, though.[DOUBLEPOST=1393242758,1393242678][/DOUBLEPOST]

Yeah, it got even worse in GT. Only Uub really did anything aside from Saiyans.
