Shirley Temple, one of the very first child stars, died today at the age of 85.

Huh. I guess I just assumed she'd died ages ago. I mean, I knew about the ambassadorships and all, but still.

I quite like Shirley Temple's movies (saw 'Heidi' and 'Little Bright Eyes' and all a lot as a kid), but I'd be lying if I said I was overly broken up, here. Like, she was at that age, especially considering she went through cancer.

I can't but wonder whether the lady's forty-give-or-take years of diplomacy would have got her death even a mention in the media if she hadn't done a cute tapdance with Bojangles when she was a little kid once upon a time. It's a bit of a strange thing.
