The Sly Cooper Movie

So, yes, this is happening. The guys who are making it (Rainmaker) the same guys who made TMNT, and are also making the Ratchet and Clank movie.
PLEASE, Rainmaker, don't screw this up. Sly was my childhood. Of course, most of the time, when you put together "movie" and "video game", it doesn't usually turn out good...

From what I hear, Rainmaker is working hand in glove with Sucker Punch and Sony to make the movie right. I don't see Sony giving them too much leeway as far as quality goes, not if they're overseeing the project directly.
...besides, animated video game movies tend to be better in general than live-action ones, if only because animation is so much more labour-intensive---like, you're going to work that hard on a project, you'd have to be some kind weirdo not to make it as good as you possibly can. I mean, even the dumbest animated game movies are miles ahead of Uwe Boll.

It looks like 2016 is gonna be a battle between the Angry Birds movie and this movie to see which will be the first successful CGI game movie if they can do either one right.
But I don't know if Angry Birds would translate well into a movie when you consider the source material has very little story beyond the birds' quest to retrieve their eggs from green pigs...and when you consider that such a project was likely born out of Hollywood's shameless desire to cash in on THE most heavily marketed third-party game franchise of all time.

As long as it's not as bad as the CG cartoon.Colonel KR wrote:^If only Nintendo weren't so sensitive about letting others play with its toys.
Speaking of Nintendo and movies, here's a poster for a possible future Donkey Kong movie I thought I'd post just for fun:
Tell me this is not the greatest tagline ever.
Eugh.

That's easy.I REALLY HATE POKEMON! wrote:What would you guys do if the DK film was a direct sequel to the tv series
First, I'd introduce Manky Kong and explain how he betrays the family, ultimately joining K. Rool's team.
Then, I'd summon a slew of new voice actors. Here's my fantasy cast thus far:
Mr. T, Khary Payton, or Terry Crews: DK
Simon Helberg: Diddy
Garrett Morris: Cranky
Rick Hoffman (of Suits fame): Manky
Tasia Valenza: Candy
Aziz Ansari: Funky
Jason Sudeikis: Klump
Travis Willingham: Krusha
John DiMaggio: Misc. Kritters
Brian Doyle-Murray: K. Rool
Finally, I'd include a strategic alliance between K. Rool and "Kaptain Scurvy," because that's probably what every fan of the old TV show has always wanted to see.
So, what would you do?
