Drive-ins

So, like, just curious---any of you guys been to a drive-in theatre? Ever have that experience? Not even sure if this is a thing outside America and Americana.

Drive-ins were a not-insignificant part of my childhood. Ma was broke and so she'd occasionally sneak a pile of neighbourhood kids (us included, of course) in in the back (not entirely legal, I guess, but you kind of weigh a bunch of us kids getting in free against them showin the movies on a gigantic screen to nobody and playin movie audio on the public radio also to nobody----grey area, innit). Hell of a thing. Popcorn and snuck-in candy, all of us sittin on the roof of the family landyacht. Quite a time, man.

Incidentally, best double feature ever---'Batman' x 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade', 1989. I was there----I defy anyone to come up with better. Come at me, bro---my soul is prepared, how is yours?

I've never been to a real drive-in, sadly. My nearest multiplex, though, began its life as a drive-in many moons ago, & its lobby snack bar is set up like one; the tables are in mockups of cars, with the old-school window-mounted speakers, each with individual volume control (they often show news or sports on the screen).

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

there's a drive-in by my house, but I haven't visited it since I saw The Dark Knight/Hancock there in 2008

Me 'n Tazy went to one once when we evacuated for a hurricane. We saw The Brothers Grimm and Red Eye. The experience was fun, but we left early because the movies were kinda horrible.

Also I remember they spelled the title of the movie as "The Brouthers Grimm." :/

I didn't know the even still existed. Maybe they don't have them in Oregon.

Yeah, I don't think there are any in my area. I would definitely go if there was!

Never been, and thanks to watching Twister a few too many times, I don't trust 'em neither.

Do they even have tornadoes in Australia?

Sure do. There isn't anywhere the climate and topography are really suited to forming a massive tornado on the continent, but smaller ones come through a local area every tornado season and tear off some roofs, knock over fences and trees, that sort of thing.

We also get the pleasure of severe damaging/gale force winds out of regular storm fronts on a frequent enough basis that we don't need it to be a tornado to wreck up the place. :D
