Yup, 1983 was the magic year when the world got introduced to a blown up world where mohawks are fashionable, there's almost no guns at all, and there has always been a martial arts style that blows people up.
Related, Ken's Rage 2 just came out for 360, Wii U, and PS3. The 360 version is the only physical version in North America, while the PS3 and Wii U version get free DLC. If you haven't watched/read FotNS, Ken's Rage 2 is incredibly faithful to the original series, while adjusting the original Ken's Rage engine more to the original Warriors engine. (fair warning the Wii U is HORRENDOUSLY slow)
inb4 I'm the only one who's gotten more than 3 episodes in

I've never watched any FotNS. Seen loads of references, callbacks and parodies, though---clearly, it's left rather a significant cultural impact.
Picked up 'Ken's Rage' because it looked like it'd be a fun beat-'em-up (it was, though I never really knew what was going on, story-wise---fortunately I'm accustomed to being sort of bewildered in Koei games, so I just went with it).
I don't know. I like rad things, and the show itself seems like it might be pretty rad (confirm/deny?)---maybe I look into it sometime.

^^^ I safely assure you that the series is radical, fitting several definitions of the word. Especially the mohawks.
^^ If you've played Warriors Orochi/Samurai Warriors or whatever, it's pretty much the same concept. Ken's Rage 2 is much more about the action and being fast paced while the original had some weird platforming traversing and such. The second also REALLY goes into detail of the plot of the series. I just beat Ken's second story mission which is about the old man bringing back the rice seeds and killing Spade, the first of Shin's men. I think in Ken's Rage the second of Ken's story was facing Shin in their final fight, aka THE END OF THE FIRST ARC (ironically the end of the dub of the original FotNS anime)
^ Experience dictates the 30th anniversary is better than the 20th/25th.

^Nice to hear they put effort into the story of the second game. Man, sometimes licensed games are a baffling clustercuss where story is concerned---like, I realise they're sort of meant for fans of the source material, but it never hurts to make things accessible to neophytes.
