I'd post the trailer, but it gives away too much of the plot and makes the movie look like generic crap. It's about the 1980 hostage crisis involving the US and Iran. Directed by and starring Ben Affleck, who is really turning into quite the director.
Seriously, I strongly recommend this movie. "One of the best of the year," "Two thumbs up," "Five stars," etc. I'd say after The Master it's the second best new movie I've seen all year.

I watched this movie the other day. I have to say, it was really intriguing and a lot of times I was sitting on the edge of my seat biting my nails. haha. I do think it's a bit of propaganda in the sense of enforcing patriotism and the arts, but not saying that's altogether a bad thing.
I've read some stuff from the Iranian point of view, just recently Persepolis but her family revolts against the group that took over the U.S. Embassy in Iran, but it's still one of those situations that needs to be looked at from both sides. Yes, it was terrible what those people did to the U.S. workers, but they see America as killers because they use Vietnam as an example of what happens when the U.S. forces democracy on countries. Eh, anyway, just a thought.
It was still a great movie to watch.

I thought about that as well, but great artistic merit trumps political implications.

The trailer showed a hint of possible brilliance, but was obscured by my foreknowledge of the event and the fact that it's impossible for Ben Affleck to not look like a smug *******.

The trailer makes the movie look like generic crap. Don't judge a movie by its trailer. It's really closer in style to the 1970's New Hollywood era.
