Hollywood is full of them right now.

Some idiot's obviously boring version of the Munsters just got the axe, so there's still hope for the world. If you saw this and thought "but they're not even monsters," then you're in the same boat as everyone ever save the execs who signed off on this ****;




Now there's mention of contracts being signed over a(nother) remake of Scarface, though. Sounds like sacrilege? That's because you've got ears, buddy. If this thing gets through, expect unnecessary modern gang culture to be plastered all over it. Last time I watched it, I know I thought to myself "Gee, why aren't any of these latino immigrants wacky black guys? Where's all the crunk? How am I supposed to know if it's a gang if I can't inject my modern racist sensibilities into it?"

So are we supposed to post terrible remake ideas that exist or come up with our own, because I've got quite the arsenal for both situations.

I think of all bad remake ideas, the worst I remember was an American remake of the Korean film Joint Security Area.

Joint Security Area is about an incident at the Korean Demilitarized Zone.

Yeah.

Of course, the US is apparently trying to remake pretty much every single Korean movie from the past ten years. We already got The Uninvited (a remake of the excellent A Tale of Two Sisters), My Sassy Girl (in which the US remake of the original Korean film graciously was sent to straight-to-DVD-hell), Mirrors (remake of Into the Mirrors), and The Lake House (remake of Il Mare). Spike Lee is remaking Oldboy, which I'm actually excited to see simply because I feel like Spike Lee is one of the few US directors who'd have an interesting take on the story. Charlize Theron was going to do a remake of Lady Vengeance, but I haven't heard much about it recently, though I do think Theron would be an ideal actress for the lead role in that film if it had to be remade. Bong Joon-Ho's The Host was picked up for a remake a few years ago, but thankfully that one seems to be dead in the water because that's almost as bad of an idea as a US remake of Joint Security Area, because once again, that movie is pretty much about South Korean culture and politics. Dimension films announced a remake of The Man From Nowhere recently, which is okay with me because that was unbelievably overrated. Chris Columbus is remaking Hello Ghost, and the guy who did Mean Girls is remaking Castaway on the Moon.

God help them if they ever try to remake A Bittersweet Life...

The one that really pissed me off was Death at a Funeral, which was remade only 3 years after the original.

And remember, "Teenage Alien Ninja Aliens."

Sh*tty American live-action 'Akira' has been cancelled. You know, maybe it was a sudden spasm of common sense and decency at Warner Bros; maybe it was an instance of literal divine intervention. Either way, it's some good news, boy, is it ever.

Also, the only thing more mind-boggling than the concept of the Munsters remake was the cancellation of the Munsters remake. NBC spent 10 million dollars to film the pilot, and now they're not even going to pick it up. Goodness gracious.

To be fair, Jonny Lee Miller strikes me as capable of being a super interesting Sherlock, but this whole "herp a derp let's change the gender dynamics and modernise/Americanise the franchise" misses the point of how Watson is meant to impact the stories, what made Sherlock a valid detective in the first place, and ruins the characters.

The J.L. Miller version of Sherlock looks both extremely entertaining, and extremely disloyal to the source. I think JLM is a brilliant actor, though, so it's hard for me to experience as much rage against the franchise, especially given the many disloyal interpretations to the source (including the concept of modernisation inherent to the Cucumber franchise and the fact that he looks like Sheldon from BBT with a wig).

It warms my cold, black heart to hear that the AMURRICIN ACKEERA project was given the axe, though. Chop chop chop chop chop. Thank god this was made, though;
