COSPLAYS

LET'S TALK ABOUT COSPLAYS

Because it's kind of an anime nerd schtick. You can either share really awesome cosplays like this, cosplays with really hilarious wigs like this, or even cosplay plans/experiences.

Ok, so I'm just a giant cosplay nerd. What of it.

[although, to be perfectly honest, even though I mostly go to ANIME conventions I rarely cosplay ANIME. It's mostly video games [strike]and now homestuck[/strike] and the like]

Also subjects of discussion are how the hell do you make some of those props [read: Cloud's sword] i mean seriously

I guess we're past that.

^ I was expecting an elaborate llama costume.

I'm disappointed.

I like cosplay. It's totally cool. I work near the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, so every now and then you see a detachment of Roman warriors or some guys in capes just hanging out at the food court.

I've never cosplayed before, though I kinda-sorta want to do something eventually. The closest thing I've done was for Hallowe'en; I made a giant wind-up key and mounted it on my back a la Shinonome Nano.

I personally LOVE cosplaying. Especially in cases of anime/jrpgs and the like, the clothing that characters wear is not the kind of thing you can just buy at the store and alter, so you have to come up with creative ways of making it work.

I like sewing and just looking at either a really simple design and thinking about how to make it realistic and what to add, or looking at a really weird design and just figuring out how to make it in real life because that kind of clothing doesn't actually exist.

I have also recently after my latest cosplay become obsessed with playing with, cutting, styling, and gelling wigs to get them to look like whatever dumb weird animu hair characters have, but to not have them end up looking like the bad Yugi cosplayer I showed above. The only problem being I don't have very many wigs. So I settle for messing with those of my friends who want to cosplay hehehehhehe

[tl;dr it's a fun art form imo, and whether it comes out good or ****ty, if you make it THAT IS YOURS AND YOU SHOULD BE PROUD WOOO]

[but if it's ****ty it is advised that you don't put it on the internet lest terrible people like me should link to it for the lolz]

It might just seem like an average cosplay until you realize that's Haruhi's actual voice actress. So wait... does it actually count as cosplaying then...?

^ Unless she actually wears that on a day-to-day basis and bought it at the local store because it was exactly her fashion sense, yes.

I know the Japanese voice actress for Anise in Tales of the Abyss cosplayed her character at one point. Maybe that's just a thing that they do over there?

Man, I wish I could find a pic of my old Cardcaptor Sakura cosplay. I was like 12 and well not gonna lie I was pretty goddamn adorable. My recent ones have all been video games <///3

Instead, have the greatest Korra cosplayer ever

and the best Daria and Jane cosplayers ever
