This was the last movie I expected that I would go see in a theater, but I had a free movie pass and it got good reviews. Even more unexpectedly, I actually liked it. 'Twasn't amazing, but it's probably the best movie you could get from what the movie itself admits in the exposition is a very silly and lazy concept. Ron Swanson... erm... Nick Offerman has one of the best cameo appearances ever.

The screenplay from Jonah Hill and Michael Bacall is extremely self-aware, and will probably be the "make or break" aspect of the film for many viewers. It was probably the single thing that won me over the most, personally.

It also has Lindsey Broad in a very small role. She should be in more things.

Anyone else see this one? At all? No one? No? Okay.

I'm seeing it tonight after hearing a lot of good things about it. I hate Channing Tatum though...

Channing Tatum isn't exactly great in this movie, but he was a pretty good fit for his role. Jonah Hill is pretty good, though. Ice Cube has an amusing one-note performance that is pretty much exactly what you would expect from Ice Cube.

Jonah Hill's great. I don't think he was worthy of the Oscar nomination that Moneyball got him, but he's a great comedic actor. I really hope Ice Cube makes more movies like this one instead of staying with the family-friendly thing that he had going for a while.

The thing with Ice Cube is that if you watch him in movies like Boyz N The Hood, Three Kings, Barbershop, and to a lesser extent even Friday, it's pretty clear he's got a lot of acting talent. Talk about squandering. He wasn't really showcasing all of his talent in 21 Jump Street, but he was notably entertaining.

Also, Ellie Kemper.

I've been intrigued by this movie ever since seeing previews, and now that I hear you like it, I'll definitely see it someday. Probably never in theaters, though.

Just got back. Really enjoyed it. I don't know if I can say more than what's already been said. I don't know the last time I've laughed this hard at a mainstream comedy.
