I'm surprised I haven't seen any threads for this yet.
Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In Brave, a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts. Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Witch (Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late.

BUMP. It's out now, and I saw it today.
This is a really good movie. It's an absolutely spectacular film by a technical standpoint. Some of the most beautiful animation I've ever seen. Pixar has outdone themselves with the phenomenal attention to detail (just watch Merida's hair). The plot is pretty standard, but it's told well and the film is very funny. Highly recommend it.
You'll hear some criticism that the story isn't as good as Up or Toy Story but I don't think that's fair. I don't care how original the story is, as long as it's told well, and Brave is told really well. I honestly think that if this was released just by Disney instead of Disney/Pixar, there wouldn't be these gripes. Why can Disney tell a pretty standard story and get praise, but when it's in collaboration with Pixar, the movie gets criticized for it?
and that's the waaaaaaaaaay the news goes

The father became an alcoholic that praised the D-graders in exchange for cash.
^ Because everyone has really lofty standards for Pixar. Even our local newspaper said the same thing about "if it was Disney, there would be no complaints".
Disney is the stuggling middle child in the shadow of his big straight-A brother, Pixar. The mother always expects Pixar to get good grades, so if he drops even one level, he gets chewed out. Once Disney gets his first passing grade, of course the mother's gonna praise him.

Just saw it meself. I basically agree with Panfan's evaluation. It was a very good movie, but not Pixar's best. That's not to say it was bad by any stretch of the imagination, though.
The animation was beautiful. I'm always impressed by Pixar's work when it comes to that, and this was no exception.
