I wonder why every staff tries to give their animated animal characters a makeover by adding a central human character who really shouldn't serve any purpose

For the last three or four seasons of the classic TMNT show, the creators brought the concept back down to earth and darkened it up a bit. Here's the familiar theme song we all know as the creators reworked it to fit in with the new, grittier take.
