Avatar (2009)

I've been hearing about this one for a while, and wasn't too interested, but I just saw a commercial a little while ago and it looks pretty sweet. This is one I'm gonna have to check out.

It'll be released in theaters December 18th.

I thought I posted a topic of this too, haha. Guess not.

Known about this for a while, heard about it ironically at the same time as The Last Airbender.

I'd like to see this. It seems that they put alot of work into it.

I saw the video game, a couple of weeks ago at an expo. It was in 3-Freakin'-D (granted you had to use glasses, and granted I've seen a 3-D on a TV without glasses).
The game looked okay (for a shooter), apparently only so many versions of that game are going to have the 3-d mode.

Film doesn't interest me after readin about it.

SAY, HAIN'T YOU ONE O' THE BOYS WHO BEEN WHACKIN' IN MAH TOOL SHED?

Also, I concur. Movie seemed meh to start with, but I'm starting to be interested in it. I hear a lot of conceptual legwork went into it, it could end up being another great.

I watched it last night (opening night) with the 3D glasses and everything. Pretty cool movie. It's really a world-building movie; there's tonnes of wacky crazy rainforest stuff everywhere. Also, the mechanics of the planet remind me of Final Fantasy VII a lot, and we had a discussion about how similar it is.

Not gonna see it. I hear it's just a left-wing diatribe about evil corporations, man-made global warming, and Iraq. I get enough of that from watching.....well, everything else, I guess.

Yeah, the preachy stuff is pretty ham-handed. Nothing specific in terms of how humans ruined planets, though; they don't mention climate change or Iraq. Still, a pretty movie to look at.

As soon as people told me it reminded them of Ferngully, I was out.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I've seen better movies. I predicted Avatar's entire plotline within the first 10-15 minutes. I even managed to call out a few certain scenes.

Basically, don't expect anything new outside of the CG-I. If you've seen Fern Gully and Dances with Wolves, then you'll pretty much know what'll happen in the movie.

It's pretty, but if "pretty" is what made a movie, then I have to do nothing but laugh at all the people who said "Pretty doesn't make a movie" about Star Wars: episode 1 and Water World.

Didn't everyone hate Waterworld?

I'll see it eventually, but Sherlock Holmes is first and foremost on my list of holiday-time movies to see.
