...well, huh.
Crossovers could be fun, though. In a kind of "...yeah..." way.

Marvel has already screwed itself up more horribly than Disney ever could.

^The real one, of course. If it was just the movies or an alternate universe, I wouldn't care. But they've gone and irrevocably screwed-up the real Spider-Man.

Agreed. How many times have they killed Aunt May? Comic continuity in itself is flawed.

Hey, great. We'll finally get that Mickey Mouse/Punisher MAX crossover I've been hoping for ever since I went off my meds.

I don't like this nor do I like the fact that it is pretty much already a done deal. However I also wept horribly when I first discovered that DC had been purchased by Warner Brothers, so its not like I haven't been down this road before.
If all goes well (which I don't expect) Marvel will continue to create all superhero based films in house. All this will do will allow for Disney to incorporate many of these characters into their theme parks and sell the merchandise for the movies at their various retail locations. Also since Disney already has Pixar they might begin to sway some characters that have yet to be filmed over to the new computer animation format.

As long as it only involves classic Disney characters and not overhyped garbage.
Edit: I just read on MSN that this deal is mainly happening so Disney can attract more of a male fanbase.

I'm not talking about Aunt May. I'm talking about Spider-Man selling his marriage to the devil in order to bring Harry Osborn back to life and wipe out the last twenty-five years of storytelling and character development, all because Marvel thinks kids these days can't "relate to" a married Spidey and would prefer what is basically a print version of Toby Maguire.

It looks like Disney is only doing this to bring back some movie revenue.
They will still have no creative control over the characters or comic books.
I for one see this as a chance for revitalizing that both companies desperately need.

nononononononononoohnononono no...... Why? And Disney has screwed itself up alot more than Marvel has, though Marvel has screwed itself up alot. I hope that there will be some Marvel-themed rides at Disney World, though.

I wonder what, if anything, will become of Marvel Superhero Island at Universal?
