Still angry that The Wrestler got snubbed? Wish more Blockbusters like Dark Knight had a shot? Wish that animated films like Wall-E had a chance? Want to see more foreign films get a chance at the big award?

According to Variety, you might begin to be pleased:

Oscar expands best pic noms to 10 - Entertainment News, Film News, Media - Variety

This still won't change the fact that the selection for the Best Foreign Films category often sucks, IMO.

Still won't help the animation segregation. Also, it still sucks that they cut Original Song to 3 noms.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I just hope this isn't just the academy deciding to give into "whatever is popular." For the most part, blockbusters and comedies fail to get the nomination for a pretty good reason. With foreign and animated films, I'm pretty sure it's mostly elitism.

Or, in the case of Hayao Miyazaki and Waltz With Bashir (and Satoshi Kon), foreign animated films.

I really don't like this plan. It's stretches the nominees too thin.

Also did you hear how there's this new voting system for Best Song which makes it possible for there to be NO nominations during a certain year.
