Much harder to blackball movie critics like they did with Gamespot since if they pull ads out of, say Roger Ebert's Chicago Sun Times, they'll still be able to keep the lights on. If they pull ads out of Gamespot and stop giving them advance pressers, the entire site suffers. "Gaming press" is pretty much captured by the industry and acts as quasi-independent PR firms.
