you have got to be joking me. I really hope you're not saying this because Sandler isnt punching Bob Barker out, or playing a bum who goes through all 12 grades again(dont get me wrong, i like those movies), but he is brilliant in this movie.
He proves, like Jim Carrey before him, that he can play a more serious role(and be damned funny while doing so). You never really seem to know what the hell's going on until later in the movie, and, just, man this movie is amazing. In actuality, his character is very similar to those of Billy Madison or Happy Gilmore(the gaffable idiot character), but Paul Thomas Anderson, who did a great directing job, turns this character into a relevant one. See this movie.

I'm not saying he should be playing only the immature characters, I'm just saying I shouldn't feel like I'm smoking angel dust while I'm watching a movie.
