100 Movies for 2024!

Last year's goal was tough. Let's go back to basics this year.
1) Cocaine Bear - B. Minimal jump-scares, minimal onscreen graphic injury, intentionally legitimately funny.
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

That's less than two movies a week! I thought you liked movies!
Go watch 'Unicorn Wars' at once, thou jackanapes!

Or maybe don't. 'Unicorn Wars' is pretty fricked, to be honest. You could go watch 'Zorro the Gay Blade' instead. 'Zorro the Gay Blade' is fun, and funny, and it's for free on YouTube!

What, 'Zorro the Gay Blade'? Yes it is. And it actually is exactly what it sounds like------------Zorro breaks his foot during an adventure, and his flamboyantly homosexual twin brother takes his place as the masked hero while he recovers. It's a good movie. It isn't mean-spirited. Like, the gay brother is heroic as all get-out, and not very stereotypical-----------the movie has been unfairly reviled.
If there's room in the world for 'Holiday Inn', even with its blackface number, then there should be room for 'Zorro the Gay Blade'.

You've sold me on Zorro's Gay Blade, a sentence I never thought I'd utter.

Also...I mean, if you like a lady with a dark down deep voice, both of the straight Zorro's love interests are there. Lauren Hutton and Brenda Vaccaro. Unnf.
I surely do like a gal with a smoky voice.

I don't have much preference, any kind of voice can sound nice, but as with most things I tend to gravitate to something softer.

Lucky you.
My mom has a high voice. She sounds a bit like Mickey Mouse, and she lectors at Sunday mass, as she has for as long as I can remember. I can't. Mickey Mouse reading the Bible. Good grief.
Mickey and Alice and Snow White are all so innocent-sounding. Maleficent, now, she's got the timbre, the right sort of darkness and doom. Dweomer and dread. Deep-dwelling diablerie.
I don't think I will ever in my life find a high voice sexy. It's weird.

Also, it's a career-best performance from George Hamilton.

Ooh. Girls with brown cigarettey voices are my kryptonite. It's alluring. That purr, that silky purr.
Bunny is like my favourite superhero. He just tags in, instantly! What a champ. What an awesome brave effin dude! It could literally be his death, and he gleefully jumps in to sub for Diego! How could anyone not see Bunny as an icon, gay or not?
I wanna be like Bunny. He's top-tier.

Say, Cap, what's your favourite moment in 'UHF'? You must have one---------probably you have a whole bunch (it doesn't matter/what you have for lunch)
You have to say yours first. Otherwise you might steal mine.

Well, I used Stanley's mop monologue in 1 of my acting classes in college, so that's definitely up there. Then there's the fire hose, & "supplies", & Secrets of the Universe, &.....
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Maybe that's partially why that kind of voice isn't appealing to me, it brings to mind smoking, which is a bit of a pet peeve of mine. But there's some somewhat husky voices that work, especially with an accent to match.
We were talking about Metal Gear before, which reminds me, the Sniper Wolf actress doesn't sound half bad.

My favourite was also from Stanley. He always seemed so sweet and kind, and when R.J. screamed at him to get inside his office and asked him if he knew why he got called in, Stanley said 'Because you're lonely?' It was so nice, and disarming.
Give me a quarter-credit. I came close.

'Rifftrax----The Little Mermaid (1975)'
It was kind of a downer. I'm aware the Hans Christian Andersen story wasn't exactly a bag of laughs, but still-----------sometimes the Disney adaptation makes for an improvement, even if purists moan about it.
Rifftrax helped lighten the mood, at any rate.

5) No One Will Save You - B+. I'm a big fan of this resurgence of horror without gore or jump-scares that Jordan Peele kicked off, & Kaitlyn Dever is PHENOMENAL, but I wasn't too big on this film's ending.
6) Serendipity - C-. The intended comedy was funny, but the romance was just awful.
And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"
