Yeah, Seth was just mean-spirited.

Like I said to someone else, I thought that insult was aimed at Clooney.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

You know, looking at the Oscars, I'd say that Seth did a decent performance. Who knew he could sing and dance like any Andy Williams?

I also kind of guessed Brave would win Best Animated Feature (an excellent job at working with a female lead nonetheless). It reminded me of something Jack Black said once about his strategy for the 2008 season: do voiceover work for DreamWorks and then "bet all my money on Pixar!" I did the same. I am now a very, very rich man (just kidding).

Well, I did think Seth did a much better job than Anne Hatheway and James Franco did. That's pretty much where my bar is set in terms of how bad possibly could have been.

I found it uncomfortably sexist. Which really shouldn't surprise me, because it's Seth MacFarlane.

^ I have a love-hate relationship with Family Guy. Basically, when he's offending me, I don't like it but when he does something that offends everyone else, I love it.

As for the man himself, he's talented but a douche and I bet he sucks in person. I heard he was great though, doing this award thing. Very funny.

Define "surprised."

What did surprise me was that he actually sounded okay singing "The Way You Look Tonight," which is a song I love dearly.

I feel it's worth pointing out that Seth's bits were preapproved by the academy, and more than likely not even written by Seth himself.

Of course, he did still go through with it, so he is guilty of the act that offended you, but he's not the only antichrist in this scenario.

He seemed to be adjusting bits based on the downright-confusing audience reactions, too; even he was surprised that their most negative response all night was to one of his least-offensive jokes (Booth/Lincoln).

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

The Booth/Lincoln joke is a clever joke, but given the Oscar crowd I'm not surprised it went over poorly as it did.

Tell me about it. You don't insult Lincoln in this country the same way you don't insult Shakespeare in England or Joan of Arc in France.
