Another thought occurs---given Disney's general 'preserving film history' junket (see---the archival-quality remasters they put out of all their old Silly Symphonies and such a few years back), this may represent our best possible chance at seeing a nice DVD release of the non-Special Edition original trilogy (possibly even a new remaster---something akin to the cleaned-up restored version that made it onto the 1994 widescreen VHS boxset). That would be pretty sweet.

Eh, this makes sense. The script for the Monkey Island film was already remixed and used by Disney for Pirates of the Caribbean (look it up if you don't believe me, or just use your noggin). Maybe that movie will finally get made, eh?
That said, I hate the idea of Disney owning the LucasArts games franchises. We were just starting to see some good games based on the Monkey Island franchise again.

^ If you haven't checked out the Special Edition versions of Secret 1 & 2 yet, they're got some pretty nice high-def art and actually still run in the SCUMM engine.
Tales is okay, and has some decent humor as well as plot development. It feels true to the series, albeit a bit clumsier and less epic than the two Secret games or Curse.
Curse is my favorite in the series. If you haven't played it, it's really worth the effort to track down. The animation and art are superb, as are the environments, voice acting, and script.

^^I snagged 'Secret' and 'LeChuck's Revenge' the second they hit XBLA, because I don't have a computer that will play either of them anymore. (Can't bear to play either but in the original versions, though. I'm sick, I know it.)
'Curse' is my second-favourite game in the series, after 'Secret'. I don't care what any dang-ass fanboy says---I always absolutely hated the ending to 'LeChuck's Revenge' (nevermind how awesome the rest of the game was, the ending always hit me as a giant middle finger to anyone who played through the series to that point), and was really happy when 'Curse' a) came along and was awesome and b) retconned that horrible goddamn ending out of existence in the opening narration. I am dead serious.

Lisa Foiles tried that once, but perhaps Disney would be more receptive to the idea than Warner was.Tunnel Snakes RULE! wrote:Eh, this makes sense. ^ I'm near in tears, Capt, and not the "this is silly" kind - it's touching to hear a person who feels so strongly about an experience that is very dear to me. But, no joke, the Pirates film actually was based off a Monkey Island script - it being a Lucas franchise, it was going to be made by Lucasfilm, but bottomed out.

^Oh, for heaven's sake.
That'll teach me to be cautiously optimistic.
[EDIT: Wait, what the hell? Carrie Fisher's set to reprise her role? Are the filmmakers aware that Carrie Fisher has spent the past thirty years transforming into an obese booze-addled ruination?]

mite b cool‘Star Wars: Episode 7‘ is still in the early stages of development with J.J. Abrams just joining the team a few weeks ago. So what was one of J.J.’s first orders of business after signing on to direct the next ‘Star Wars‘ film? Today we get word that Harrison Ford will return as Han Solo in ‘Star Wars: Episode 7.’
Back when ‘Star Wars: Episode 7′ was first announced, Harrison Ford basically said “maybe” to the idea of returning as Han Solo, likely depending on who would be directing the new film. Now that J.J. Abrams is on board, Latino Review is reporting that Harrison Ford will indeed return as Han Solo in ‘Star Wars: Episode 7′!
Latino’s superhero scooper El Mayimbe was on Fox News to announce the story and says it’s a “done deal.”
Harrison Ford and J.J. Abrams have worked together before; recently on ‘Morning Glory’ (which Ford starred in and Abrams produced) and earlier on ‘Regarding Henry’ (in which Ford starred, and Abrams wrote). How much of ‘Star Wars: Episode 7′ will follow Han Solo remains to be seen. He could have a small supporting role or he could be a big part of the new franchise. You always had to assume there would be one major link to the original trilogy and bringing back one of the film’s most iconic characters seems like a smart move.
So what does this mean for the supposed “young Han Solo” movie that’s also in development? Well, it seems as if Han Solo is a big plan of this new “Disney reboot” it makes sense. You reintroduce the old Han Solo with Harrison Ford in ‘Star Wars: Episode 7′ and then you use one of the spinoff films to focus on his origins (and potentially link to the new trilogy in minor ways).
Does Harrison Ford returning make you any more or less excited for ‘Star Wars: Episode 7′? Keep in mind that Harrison Ford returned as Indiana Jones in ‘Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’ and we all know how that turned out.
