Someone needs to find and destroy Joe Quesada, or get him fired, like what they had to Michael Eisner.Metal Mario wrote:I'm not talking about Aunt May. I'm talking about Spider-Man selling his marriage to the devil in order to bring Harry Osborn back to life and wipe out the last twenty-five years of storytelling and character development, all because Marvel thinks kids these days can't "relate to" a married Spidey and would prefer what is basically a print version of Toby Maguire.
That's all I have to say. :p

Great move by Disney IMO.
First, it gives them guaranteed money for films, as long as they don't tard them up and keep Marvel Studios an independent subsidiary like Miramax or Touchstone.
Second, it basically trashes one of their major theme park competitors in South Florida, at least in the long term. Not sure we'll see full integration of Marvel characters in, say, DisneyWorld, but they'll definitely kick Universal Studios down a few pegs once the licensing agreements get sorted out.
It also gives them a new host of properties they can adapt to television to try to capture teenage/tween males. They already have a bunch of Marvel shows on toon disney or whatever that channel is, so they can just produce MOAR.

best part of spiderman tru fax. now i can marry him.Metal Mario wrote:I'm not talking about Aunt May. Anyway, I have to wonder what could come of this. Marvel is a good buy for Disney, as long as they keep thier bad ideas out of it. Last thing we need is a long-running Hanna Montana comic.
I'm keeping my eyes open.

I don't know, the chance to annihilate a direct competitor that's roughly across the street from you (or at least make them spend a bunch of money to rebrand a large section of the park) is just something I would do to be a dick to them. Anything that messes with Universal's bottom line is good for Disney's park business.Jesus wrote:^This!!!!!
Of course Universal Studios had Shrek and so did Disney's MGM Studios. How do you explain that? I have a feeling Disney will just start receiving royalties from Universal rather than just cut them off from those characters.

That's actually what I was thinking too. Everyone else is going "ZOMG RUINED FOREVER!" and "THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT US!"

I have a strong disfavour for superhuge companies. It's not like I'm a big fan of much either company's been putting out (if it's cool, it's cool), but the shareholders were all "YEAH MONEY", so of course it went ahead. *snort* Smart business, fail for the world in general.
Nonsense, I have not yet begun to defile myself.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. I mean, if Disney does do that then Universal Studios is finished. I just thought to myself that they would want to make more money by "renting out" those characters rather than just crush the competitor in an unfair business move. If Disney does do that it would look very bad for them and could actually hurt themselves rather than help.Lurch1982 wrote:I don't know, the chance to annihilate a direct competitor that's roughly across the street from you (or at least make them spend a bunch of money to rebrand a large section of the park) is just something I would do to be a dick to them. but I just realized something, what if disney makes marvel produce a long running JONAS BROTHERS comic book series!
my reaction would be something like this.

^Disney will probably let Marvel run independently just as they have with Pixar. They understand why Marvel is so famous and will probably most likely let them run things how they want to be run. Just because it is now owned by Disney doesn't mean they are going to change anything inside the Marvel Universe to make it any different. If anything this gives Marvel the chance to make better movies.

When I read the title of this topic "Does not compute." was the first thing that came to mind.
As for Marvel being bought out it just seems weird to me.
Someone brought up Kingdom Hearts with Marvel characters init, heh knowing Spider-Man's luck him showing up in the KH games would just make things go wrong for him in a new way.

That would be me. I was thinking more along the lines of Wolverine meeting Donald. Also Spiderman's story in Kingdom Hearts could be Mary-Jane being captured by Heartless, and Green Goblin helping the Heartless (Seems pretty easy storyline for me).PSYCHOKID909 wrote:Someone brought up Kingdom Hearts with Marvel characters init, heh knowing Spider-Man's luck him showing up in the KH games would just make things go wrong for him in a new way.
