That is a good question. I don't believe I have ever recorded him actually saying that, though I am sure he would agree with the idea. I am not specifically targeting him anyway. I just think it is funny how people get all moral and righteous about issues like sexism, racism, or other prejudice. But, a bunch of these same people have no problem believing that there is no real moral standard and that humans are basically clever animals, at least when asked in another context. It undermines the whole point of arguing about why things like sexism or slavery might be bad. Don't tell me that you don't see that all the time. You have been on the Internet enough by now to see that all the time. And this topic was a few pages of arguing about sexism and prejudice.
Or more simply, who can really say that sexism and slavery are not good? They sure work in some societies. They can have practical benefits for maintaining social order so that the main group can survive. What standard would you appeal to if you wanted to argue against that?

I don't like it there very much.
Instead, why not talk about the horrifying implications of treating the dead(ghosts) as pests to be removed. It would really be awful to die, linger as a ghost, and then be vacuumed up in what used to be your house because some new people don't want you there.

^^Presumably if somebody's a ghost they were kind of a dick in real life. We don't see ghosts doing nice things in the GB movies. They're either outright malevolent or incidentally spooky (Slimer kind of pins the needle between the two).
Like, the second flick featured the ghost of Vigo the Carpathian (some kind of Vlad Dracul-wannabe) as primary villain, and a pair of executed murderers (the Scoleri Bros) spooking about and causing destruction early on. If these assh*les don't feel like going to Hell, and can't be bothered not to be jerks to living people, maybe they deserve to get caught and do some time in Bill's PC.

[QUOTE="Booyakasha, post: 1518290, member: 17381"]^^Presumably if somebody's a ghost they were kind of a dick in real life. We don't see ghosts doing nice things in the GB movies. They're either outright malevolent or incidentally spooky (Slimer kind of pins the needle between the two).

I just assume that a ghost catching business would be more like a lot of pest control. Unless all the ghosts are malevolent. In many cultures, this would be the automatic assumption about ghosts. Only the people that were already bad would end up as ghosts in the first place. Maybe it is that sort of thing.

I kind of wonder about Slimer. What the hell is going on there.
I mean, some of the ghosts in the series are clearly human (the library ghost in the first one, the sexy ghost who touches Ray inappropriately during the montage, the running ghost in the second movie, along with the Scoleris and Vigo). So what's up with Slimer. Do ghosts choose what form they take? Why would someone want to be a gross fat legless lump? He looks like he belongs in Lumpy Space. He loves food, but appears unable to communicate with the living. Slimes dudes. Circles around aimlessly. Is he the ghost of a horribly spiteful retard? If not, what? Some kind of personification of gluttony?
For that matter, how about that ghost who swoops screaming up out of the subway during the 'Magic' sequence. What's he meant to be.
(EDIT: Oh dear. I bet Slimer makes a completely nonsensical cameo in the upcoming movie. I mean, assuming it's canon to the originals and not a complete reboot. He'll appear in the bustin montage so fanboys can go 'hey, iss slimer' whilst drooling all over themselves. Ugh.)

Incidentally, rereading this topic has kind of got me interested in looking up the Mike Morales Spidey comics. There's something about 'established hero dies, new character is inspired to rise and take his place' stories that speaks to me (hell, Steel showing up was pretty much the one good part of that whole goofball Death/Return of Superman arc) (let's not talk about the movie version, though).

Surely, the writing being good is kind of the inevitable trump card.
My favourite comics series in the world is 'Usagi Yojimbo', the samurai comic starring a cartoon rabbit. I can nevermind an awful lot of silliness if the writing is rad enough. Hell, I've actually wept whilst reading UY------hey, like, good luck finding any dumb Batman or Spidey comic hit me like UY------'Fathers and Sons' did, here.
I'm eager to get hit in the feels. I want to hurt. Hurry up and smash me up, comics guys----------you aren't doing it often enough. UY and 'The Goon' can't put out a new trade each but every six months--------surely somebody else out there must be willing to kick my guts out on a regular basis. So hurry up and damn well do it.

^ Try The Walking Dead. The comics and games are enough to get you invested but the TV series isn't as "emotional." The first game made me cry and I kind of hated it for breaking me as few things do. Second didn't break me but damn near did at the end. I went into it prepared so that probably helped. I was totally off guard for the first one.

Snagged the retail copy of TWD-S1 (the game, I mean). Tried (unsuccessfully) to avoid spoilers. Trying to hype myself up to get wrung through the wringer. It might be a minute. (Stalled on my 'not very nice at all' New Vegas playthrough---------like who knew being a total scumbag wouldn't be as rewarding as I thought.)

^ Man, I don't know how I'd perceive that game if it'd been spoiled for me. I think it's so well crafted and finely delivered that it should still be a hefty experience. Grab the second season if you can before you get spoilers on that one, too.
I am actually super looking forward to E3 because I'm expecting more TWD: S3 news. I usually don't have specific games I look forward to at E3 but that's one.
