Avatar wasn't even the best Sci-Fi movie nominated for best picture. District 9 was the ****. Mostly because it didn't completely rely on its special effects.
and that's the waaaaaaaaaay the news goes

I saw this recently, in Normal-Vision!. I don't think I liked it. Kinda slams the point it's trying to make into your skull again and again and again. Also, I'd whine about bestiality, rape and uncensored hair, but complaining about that kind of stuff would be kinda reaching.

I'm still amazed by the names of "Unobtainium" and "Pandora".

Guy: What shall we call this planet?
Guy2: ...Pandora.
Guy: Umm, like that chick who opened that box?
Guy2: Yeah, it's a cool name.
Guy3: Sir, we've discovered a strange fungus growing on the sides of this vessel.
Guy2: We shall call this fungus...the Hermes fungus.
Guy3: I dig that. Who's for some astronaut jam?
Guy2: More like, Astrube, am I right?
Guy: Why are you here?

Or if by "it" you mean Saving Private Ryan, then I'll agree with you.

Avatar was just a vessel for James Cameron to show off his newly developed special effects technology because we all know he jacked the story off of about 20 other movies. It basically only got nominated because it was the highest grossing movie ever and the academy was scared of the same kind of backlash it received for not nominating the Dark Knight (also the reason why there were 10 nominees).

I really liked that part of the end battle where it shows one of those goofy six-legged horses running by in slow-mo engulfed in flames. Laughed so hard I damn near puked.

^I agree, I felt bad for laughing because people and animals were dying and everything, but I just couldn't contain myself.. The people watching it around me all gave me a look that said "How could you?" though... Still hilarious either way.

I still find it funny how you can kill a human in a movie no problem, hundreds, thousands, millions even, but when you hurt that cow...

Anyway, I have plans to see this sometime. James Cameron is awesome. And the film looks good. But a friend of mine (a fellow James Cameron fan) told me the film was disappointing...
