^ I was gonna make a comic as a response to your comment, but then I found out there was no way to make it funny, so here's an explanation about him that no one will care about:
Shoemi actually has several friends who are female that don't regularly beat his ass, which include Nelly, Alei and Kel (those three whores), who happen to be a trio of nymphomaniacs. So why doesn't Shoemi just get with them since they practically shag anything that moves?
Because Shoemi is the kind of character with enough pride to refuse girls who throw themselves onto him out of pity. He wishes to score through his own charisma. It's a lifelong goal.
He's an idiot.
I have no idea why people like this character so much.
His contrived personality appeases the Comedy Gods.

It took me a long time to mimic the standard "moe" anime style ever since I first saw the stuff at ten years old and it ended up appealing to me for some reason. The fact that it's simplistic is just a bonus.
Of course, it comes with a helping of shame, given the reputation of faux-anime artists, but my life is shameful enough as it is already, so whatever.
