Tekken (2009)

Tekken's always been one of my favorite fighting series, so they better not screw this up.

It's probably going to go the way of the Street Fighter movie.

So Prince of Persia and Tekken both have movies coming out soon.

I guess the movie business's new goal is to destroy beloved franchises.
and that's the waaaaaaaaaay the news goes

I will once hollywood makes a GOOD video game baised movie. Or atleast try to follow the admittdly absurd premis of said game. Resident Evil almost kind sort looks like said game franchies if you are drunk enough have a case of pink eye and squint just right.

... All that's good for is making fun of. Granted they atleast TRIED to be close to the Mario games but it was still a good ways off from the right train of thought. I will admit that it's really close to the overall tone and story of the SMB cratoons but even then they took alot of lberties.

Maybe it'll be like the Mortal Kombat movie, which I thought was fairly decent. Then again, the stories of the characters in Tekken are a lot deeper than the ones in Mortal Kombat.

Also, I think it's kinda funny that Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, who played Shang Tsung in the Mortal Kombat movie, plays Heihachi Mishima in this movie.

I still say the only VG to movie conversion they ever got right was Silent Hill. yeah it has it's own plot that revolves around the cursed town and they pulled it off flawlessly, hell if you look hard enough at the locations in the background you'll see that they are actually from the games, and they lifted the score strait from the soundtracks of silent hill 1-3. they even brought in the monsters from the games and added elements of the games in there as well like the road dropping off into a bottomless void of fog/smoke and the snow/ash falling in myst world silent hill. and that air raid siren to signal the conversion of myst world to other world. the radio, the flashlight, everything was there! It fealt like you were actually watching someone playing an original installment in the silent hill series.

it really is the only one that was done right! but that might have been because konami worked really closely with a film maker that was passonate about making a movie that truely lived up to the silent hill name.

I really hope that Konami does the same for Metal Gear!
