Looks like Castlevania isn't the only video game franchise to get a Netflix show.

Gonna watch it?

^One of my dream projects is a set of 3 miniseries adapting the entire Mother trilogy.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I am very much not the target audience for this as someone who has never even considered a Netflix subscription, but the idea of adapting a series so built around player choice and consequence to television is bizarre to me. I don't see how you could possibly capture what made the games memorable in a non-interactive format.

It's probably possible to adapt the books, but from what I've heard (including from the author) those really don't have much in common with the games. That might still leave you with the problem of not capturing the spirit of the games.

^Speaking for myself, I'd watch a series based on the books, but it must be admitted that the reason the books are popular to the extent that they are is mainly owing to their connection to the ganes.

I mean, I think it's possible to like and respect the source material and still enjoy an extremely tortured deviation from it (for instance, I'm a huge fan of the old Howard Conan books, and I also think 'Conan the Barbarian' is a great, praiseworthy film in its own right), but I'd understand why some people would feel too betrayed by an unfaithful adaptation to give it a fair shake. Ehhhh.
