Yes, but the difference being most could not outwit goku to the extent that his strength is meaningless. If Goku lost a battle of wits with most people, he could just punch them and then basically win. L's wit, however, is super duper anime level. It would allow him to best goku and he would find a way to make his strength useless.

I've concluded that L is logic, since the almost immediately stops making any sense after he dies. Even if Goku defeated him, it would all be for naught because two previously unmentioned children would show up to replace him. Using their incredible abilities to watch all of television ever and stage heists, they'd steal Goku's power levels (I am a DBZ expert, this is definitely how it works) and replace them with similar looking, but useless, lower levels. One of them would die heroically, but the survivor would shoot Goku in a fight so amazingly anticlimactic that everyone watching would erase the entire story, including Goku's victory over L, from their minds, and then it might as well not even have happened. Just like he planned.

L could easily poison Goku like most intelligent characters. Also all of Death Note is great, some just less so. I wasn't a fan of Near/Mello but we got Mikami who was a fun character so it kinda balances out.

Light can beat L at standing behind L, but this is because Light and L are almost equally matched intellectually. Goku, however, is not almost equally matched intellectually.

L may or may not beat Goku at standing behind Goku, as he could outwit Goku but Goku could go Kaio Ken times A Million and get behind him. L could foresee this and use it to his advantage. L's Smart Level and Goku's Power Level are likely very similar sums. Therefore, L could apply this and feasibly beat Goku.

We seem to be making the unreasonable assumption that Goku is not Kira. If he is, then L was standing behind Goku all along, and Light is just the kind of person that thinks everything is about him.

If Goku was Kira then Death Note would have had another season in which he comes back after being killed in order to attend a martial arts tournament, and then goes SSJ3 and punches Ryuk in the face
