This month marks the 10-year anniversary of Samurai Champloo (the first episode aired May19th, 2004).

This revolutionary animation show, which aired late night on Japanese TV, got picked up for overseas distribution and helped introduce the independent music scene to a whole new generation.

Definitely time to revisit Jin and Mugen and Fuu on their journey for the samurai who smells of sunflowers...

Do you have a particularly favourite episode? Or scene? Music? :D
She lives in the clouds and talks to the birds...

Happiest faerie of VGF.

Man, it's been too long and nobody else in the house cares about the show.

It really went out there sometimes, which is why it's so memorable. Even when it told a serious plot point.

From what I remember anyway. It's been a long time.

Overall, my favorite episode is "Gamblers and Gallantry," but my favorite scene is the fight between Mugen and Ukon. As for music, it's hard to say but maybe the ending theme? Hard to believe it's a decade old now.

I caught it just in time for the 10-year anniversary.

The greatest episode of all time is the baseball episode, but literally episode was amazing. What a friggen good series. The graffiti episode was super great too.... I just loved all of the ways that the show totally incorporated streetstyle samurai fusion. Was hells of awesome. From the first episode when Mugen is basically fighting like a breakdancer I was hooked.

Also, the art style is great.

Also, the soundtrack is also great.

this show is great
I believe in second chances, and that's why I believe in you.
