It's a once off (pilot), but the studio is trying to drum up awareness to push for a series. Looks pretty good, IMO.

THIS STYLE IS SO ADORABLE HELP

I hope they get enough interest to make a series because this is something I would totally watch!! Adorable little girls and magic. All I need in an animu.

also the broom flying teacher from the beginning is conan and it's very distracting

Little Witch Academia is part of this year's AnimeMirai(Young Animators Training Project), which is a thing where studios, often small start up studios, get funding for anime shorts from the Japanese government. It has a very Gainax feel, because the guy behind this one was with Gainax until recently. It definitely was meant to be a pilot.

This is the one released after Little Witch Academia. I think it makes a better one shot, since it is wrapped up within the run time. Most of the things released in AnimeMirai over 3 years or so have been one shots. Look up Ojiisan no Lamp for an earlier example.
