Arrested Development Season 4!!!!

#1

Post by Calamity Panfan » Wed May 29, 2013 3:17 pm

So on Sunday, the internet's favorite television show ever (except maybe Firefly) returned with its fourth season posted exclusively on Netflix. And everybody blue themselves over it.

So has anybody seen it yet? I've been crazy busy since this weekend, so I haven't had opportunity until tonight to do it. I've heard good things, though that it's not as good as seasons 1-3 (which I kinda figured anyway)
and that's the waaaaaaaaaay the news goes

I have not watched it yet, and I don't plan to until I get down to Argentina. Gonna watch it with my house mates, and it shall be glorious.

^ Are you gonna have access to it down in Argentina?

I'm 8 episodes in so far, and though it isn't quite as good as we had all hoped (but could it ever have been?), I remain in awe of how intricate and complex the plotting is.

^There will probably be some region locking, but there's a Firefox add-on that bypasses that. I should look for that before I go.

My friends and I marathoned the entire season on Sunday.

DAMN THAT WAS FUNNY STUFF.

It just goes to remind me just how clever the writers of that show were.

The one thing that was weird, however, was that (only minor spoilers)
the 15 episodes don't actually cover all that significant amount of time. A good half is dedicated to speeding through five years to catch up with the present... whereas the rest of the show really spans just a handful of days. The plot weaves very tightly around those few days, being retold several times as one extra piece of the puzzle gets added to each scene, completely changing what we thought actually happened. Brilliant, but definitely less episodic than the original series.
That said, I laughed. A lot. :)

Oh also... (mega-spoiler)
the series ends on a cliffhanger. Almost as if they're pitching a future movie. :p
I finished it about 20 minutes ago. After her individual episode, Maeby is officially one of my favorite fictional characters ever.

I have no ethical problems with that. Good to know. What's the name of it? I want to see if it works on Chrome.

The guys who played Gabe Lewis and David Wallace on The Office also appear in one of the later episodes.

I think re-watching the episodes will definitely add to the experience. The first three seasons benefit from multiple viewings as well, obviously, so it's really not that surprising.
The Missing Link]Oh also... (mega-spoiler)
the series ends on a cliffhanger. Almost as if they're pitching a future movie. :p

I wanted to see what would become of the plot with Michael making the movie wrote:

Netflix has announced that
they'd be willing to do another season (source) if the cast and producers are up to it
, despite some unfortunate events that occurred because the new season wasn't quite as critically acclaimed as they thought it would be.

I enjoyed it very much, though. As I stated in my previous post, there's no way the new episodes could have ever lived up to the hype. The second and third episodes were the only ones that I wasn't really that fond of.

Actually, I misspoke! It is a Chrome plug-in called Mediahint.
