Ninja Turtles (film)

#1

Post by Bad Dragonite » Mon Oct 08, 2012 10:12 am

Alright, so I have been nerding out alot more about the Turtle guys for a while now since getting my hands on the collection of the first three movies (which I watched constantly when I was a kid (and still love today I might add :P )) and just ordered the fourth movie, which I've never seen for $very.cheap recently, and I because of that I was rummaging through the TMNTwiki pages, and I came across this...
Ninja Turtles is a fifth film in the film series and also a reboot that is targeted for release in 2013 The film will be produced Scott Mednick, Galen Walker and Michael Bay's production company Platinum Dunes. It is being funded through Lightbox Productions, LLC .
Yeah I know we've heard about the film before, but I didn't want to bump an old topic.

Soo, I'm curious, what are your thoughts on this?

and also, What'd you think about the other films? Did you like them? Despise them? Do you think this will be different/better/worse?
Go ahead and post your opinions below! :D

Funfact :

Mikey accused Michael Bay of "sodomizing" the Turtle saga with an alien origin while Leo, Donnie, and April have placed their support on this direction...

And Raph is like in a corner somewhere brooding or out being a badass idk.

---and hope you have a great day! :) ---

There's not a lot to say, except Bay is pretty much a formulaic hack and any changes to the origin concept of such a hugely popular and successful franchise come off as blatantly arrogant and are probably being maintained for narcissistic reasons.

The film's due date was postponed to May 2014.

The first film wisely eschewed most extraterrestrial themes when there was simply no time to cover them. The combat is a bit lax, but the characters have a huge presence. It's a favorite in my life, I still watch it in spite of its flaws. I love that the characters seem to have some depth and confilct, and the expanded character of Casey Jones was pretty welcome.

The second one was very 2-dimensional with some sloppier sets and a lazier plot, but it was still very fun to watch.

I haven't seen the third one since its release to theaters. I wasn't very impressed, as a kid, with the way it outright ignored the themes and continuity inherent to TMNT in favor of doing its own thing, and I didn't really like the costumes as much in comparison to what the Jim Henson people did. It mostly felt like a mediocre samurai/kung fu movie with the TMNT franchise dropped on top of it.

Man, I loved the first Turtles film. I also watched the 04 series religiously when I was younger. Anyway, look, as long as Bay doesn't include giant fighting robots, mega-big explosions, and anything else that comes from some other of his movie, I'm fine there. I really just hope he doesn't screw it up.

I liked 1 & 2, but I've never seen the 3rd movie or TMNT.

That said, everything that has to do with this movie (Save the people making it, of course) should be put in a rocket ship and fired out into the sun.

The 1st & 4th are really good. The 2nd is okay. The 3rd is awful. Bay is gonna make his movie suck because that's what he does.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

This one had better have Vanilla Ice in it.

Actually, AI that's exactly what I thought when i rewatched it, like they mashed two things together last minute for a gimmick... But I wonder, if it had been more sucessful/had a bigger budget, would it have been a good precursor to a turtles in time movie?... We may never know. D:

In some areas its name was actually TMNT III: Turtles in Time, so it was actually just a really crappy attempt at a TiT film. Also, I love using that acronym.

Yes I agree with you on this one. And of course I hope that they return Karai in the 2014 film.

What Megan Fox! No I don't like it. Jessica Biel was a perfect choice for April O'Niel
