In my opinion the huge success of The Sixth Sense (which is now a decade old if you can believe it) was both a blessing and a curse for Shyamalan.

Because the film (and it's twist ending) is so engulfed in pop culture, it lifted the bar so high that Shyamalan would never be able to match that success.

However, even though he has long since fallen out of favour with the critics, I have to say I still enjoy his films.

If I had to rank Shyamalan's post-Sixth Sense films, they would be something like:
 1. Signs
 2. Unbreakable
 3. The Happening
 4. Lady in the Water
 5. The Village
However, I do say I'm glad he is doing this film. Doing an epic fantasy film after a decade of thriller (minus Lady in the Water, which is also a fantasy) is probably just what the doctor ordered.

I really didn't think Lady in the Water was that bad. Of course, I am a big fan of the cinematographer Christopher Doyle.

The Happening was pretty awesome. His other stuff was lame, though. Especially with the whole
"water kills aliens"
BS in Signs. That movie would've been fantastic if they didn't **** it up with that nonsense.

Wait. How old does a movie have to be before spoilering becomes unnecessary? I mean, wow. 2002.

Also, am I the only person around who doesn't care who does what in the movie anymore, as long as the end result entertains me? o__o
Nonsense, I have not yet begun to defile myself.

Heh, no offense bud, but half a decade is plenty of time to see a movie without getting PO'd that someone talks about some of the lamest plot twists in the film industry. Besides, there hasn't been a single movie by Eminem Shimmyshan without a stupid plot twist, that I've seen. The only person he's fooling is himself.

Anyone want to tell me what this is based on because I have absolutely no idea and obviously missed a bus somewhere along the line.

^ A plot-based animated series that aired on Nickelodeon for a few years that was pretty well-recepted critically.

About the trailer, was it like the Wolverine trailer, showing the movie backwards?

I'm so excited to see and ultimately be disappointed by this movie. M. Night Shamalan is notorious for lame plot twists, and this man is in charge of the movie. It's a must-see, even if it does ultimately end up sucking.

Personally, I wasn't impressed by the animated series, so I wouldn't be too surprised if the movie were awful even in the hands of someone with a better reputation.

Once and for all, I'd like to state a simple fact:

Plot twists are not inherently bad.

But remember when it ends up where the aliens who seem to be dominating the world can be utterly murdered by water? (Even though they're totally fine with all the moisture in the air.)

No, they're not. Too bad crappy writing is so popular in Hollywood.
