Old classic movies, you mean bastardized versions of old tales. If Walt were alive today, he'd laugh and light another cigar.

The movies from the Original Disney successes were based on old, well known, and beloved tales. Those stories were raped and then turned into the crap we are familiar with now.

Every modern storybook already gets its own bastardized movie in order from Disney from f*** ing it up even worse.

^Well do you think it's appropriate for disney to release a kid's movie where they show Zeus sleeping around with mortal women thus creating Hercules?

Well, yeah, if that had happened Disney would probably be popular but not aimed towards kids.

Probably less popular

Actually, yes. I read about Zues taking a woman in the form of a swan long before the Disney buddy buddy neutered Zeus.

How quaint. You're a "flower".

So what if Disney borrows from stories and fairytales - it's just another derivation of a tale. It happens; different cultures adapt different pieces of stories to fit within their own; this is nothing new.

They should have written original material. IE: The Hunchback of Notre Dame, right? He pours boiling oil on an angry mob, killing hundreds. It's integral to the story. They took it out.

Bambi's mom gets ****ing shot, doesn't she? They didn't take that sort of thing out back then, and I don't see anyone griping about it. It makes the movie.

Hell, Mufasa dies in the Lion King. They didn't do that wrong.

You people gonna tell me alluding to Zeus making babies is somehow going to ruin it for the kids? Maybe the uptight soccer moms, moar liek.
I muttered 'light as a board, stiff as a feather' for 2 days straight and now I've ascended, ;aughing at olympus and zeus is crying

^Disney would have gotten so much criticism if they showed the real Zeus who cheated on his wife and slept around with mortal women. The Greek Gods are supposed to be cruel yet Disney makes them look so happy and stuff. I find it completely understandable with what Disney does to make things kid friendly. That is their demographic. Would Hercules be more popular or as popular if they stuck straight to the greek stories? Personally, I think that it would be rather boring and too scary for children if it was like that.

They aim to make heartwarming classics, not cruel mature adult-oriented cartoons.
