The villager is located in the city of Rollans, about a day away from here. You can quick jump there, or you can travel there directly. Travelling can get random encounters for extra xp. Your choice.

You arrive in Rollans city. It's a medium sized city, tens of thousands of people. Mostly a trade city, it's got plenty of shops.

You can
Go to the Person who's gem was stolen's house.
Explore the city (go shopping, get an overview of the town)
Leave and quit/delay the quest.

You go the guy's house. He's waiting for you outside.

"You're the hero I asked for? Good. I had a precious gem stolen from me, and I need you to get it back. It was a diamond. It was stolen from my house. I caught sight of the thief as he was leaving, but he got away. He was wearing black clothing, but he had the emblem of the thieves guild on him. I was lucky enough to spot that. If you can find out where they hide and steal it back, I'll pay you the reward.

You can see several people in there. A group of about 6 people laughing and drinking. A lone man in a brown cloak sitting in the corner, watching every body. A large man with an axe on his back, also sitting alone drinking. Plus the bartender and a couple of waitresses.

He says, sorta quietly. "Dunno, you shouldn't really talk too openly about the thieves guild. Maybe that guy over there would know."

He points to the guy in the brown cloak.

"Are you gonna order a drink or not? If you're not quit bugging me"

I'll go over to the man in the brown cloak and ask the same thing. I'll just ignore the bartender for now seeing as if I mention I have no money I might be kicked out or something.

He glares at you. He whispers "Midnight at the docks. Keep this with you. Don't miss the meeting." He flips a coin at you. He gets up and walks outside.

The coin is not a normal gold piece. It's a silver coin, with the thieves guild emblem marked on it. The emblem is a silver knife stabbing through a gold coin.

The large man with the axe gets up. He walks over to you. "I saw ya take that coin from him. You're with the damn thieves guild aren't you." He's being quite loud and people are starting to watch. "Give that here and confess yourself and I'll let you live."

"I'm not a member of the thieves guild, I'm part of a guild that helps out those in need. You see, right now I'm in a case to help this man who had a diamond stolen from him. I'm only associating with them currently to track down the thief and return the diamond."

And... if he doesn't listen or doesn't believe it I'll disarm him.
