Marcus
Country: Mevlisieth
Age: 24
Sex: Male
Race: Human
Weapon Type: Gun/Invention (when finished)
Level: 1/00
Weapon: Pistol/Normal Bullets (+10 Dex)
Team: Aika (human, female); Danovar (gnome, male); Miaka (gnome, female)
Items: None
Accessory: None
Invention: Exploding bullets
Invention Proficiency: 1
Gold: 100
HP: 30/30
TP: 50/50
Power Rank: 1
Strength: 10
Constitution: 10
Intelligence: 40
Wisdom: 10
Dexterity: 10
Charisma: 10
Bio: Marcus's childhood was pretty peaceful and ordinary. Seeing the other countries in the world, makes him wish to keep this peace. So, in order to give the nation more power to defend themselves, he wishes to develop better weapons technology. Plus he's always been a huge fan of fireworks, so these combine his two interests in a way. Look wise, he's somewhat tall, sorta slender. He doesn't really have a dress style, he just wears comfortable and practical clothing. He usually wears pouches stuffed with ammo, and his gun within reach. Personality wise, he's very curious, almost to the extent of the gnome race. He's smart and kind. He also gets a kick out of explosions, a very child like joy.
Tech Skills: None yet

Aika
Country: Mevlisieth
Age: 24
Sex: Female
Race: Human
Weapon Type: Gun/Invention (when finished)
Level: 1/00
Weapon: Pistol/Normal Bullets (+10 Dex)
Items: Small Potion (1)
Accessory: None
Gold: 100
HP: 40/40

Power Rank: 1
Strength: 10
Constitution: 15
Intelligence: 30
Wisdom: 15
Dexterity: 15
Charisma: 25
Bio: Aika is one of Marcus's closest friends. Bright and upbeat, she keeps everyone moving. She's smart, pretty, and likeable, but as with most 'Sieths not the toughest of people. She also has the greatest common sense out of Marcus's friends-- although that isn't saying much.
Tech Skills:

Danovar
Country: Mevlisieth
Age: 24
Sex: Male
Race: Gnome
Weapon Type: Chainsword
Level: 1/00
Weapon: Tough Chain, S (+15 Str; chain is virtually indestructible)
Items: None
Accessory: Iron Barbs (+5 damage per PR)
Gold: 0
HP: 70/70
TP: 30/30
Power Rank: 1
Strength: 30
Constitution: 20
Intelligence: 20
Wisdom: 10
Dexterity: 15
Charisma: 5
Bio: Danovar is a big, burly, dour gnome. He talks quietly and gruffly, but is quick to defend his friends. He's not very intelligent for a 'Sieth gnome, but for anyone else he's about average. He's extremely strong for a gnome, though, and uses that to his advantage with his chainsword.
Tech Skills:

Miaka
Country: Mevlisieth
Age: 24
Sex: Female
Race: Gnome
Weapon Type: Crossbow
Level: 1/00
Weapon: Light Crossbow/Normal Bolts (+15 Dex)
Items: Small Potion (1)
Accessory: None
Gold: 100
HP: 30/30
TP: 35/35
Power Rank: 1
Strength: 10
Constitution: 10
Intelligence: 30
Wisdom: 5
Dexterity: 25
Charisma: 10
Bio: Miaka is cheerful and inventive, always coming up with new ways to do things; however, she's also forgetful and a little out of it. She tends to overpack and worry, but is very intelligent and surprisingly dextrous and good with her hands. As such, she's a good inventor and mechanic, and occasionally will come up with something for no reason other than that she can.
Tech Skills:

Choose one of the following.

a) Story Mode (...)
b) Shop (...)
c) Training Facility (learn moves for a cost)
d) Shooting Gallery (practice fighting)
e) Tournament (enter a practice tournament)
f) Casino (gamble)
g) Airship Pilot Academy (learn to steer an airship)
h) MPPU Operator Academy (learn to operate a Mechanized Personal Protection Unit)

MPPU's are kinda like really small, personal tanks. You're crammed into a little metal unit and have to shoot and aim manually; however, they have controls for moving, and the protection offered is great. If you want to start work on your invention, just go to Story Mode right away.

Um... you have 100 gold... if you want more, you can bet at the casino, enter a tournament, or make bets on your or other peoples' fights at the shooting gallery. Also at the shooting gallery you can enter or bet on a marksmanship contest if you want, and one is being held. Or you can just do Story Mode, at some point during which you'll probably make some money.

You realize 5 gold per TP means, for example, Ricochet would cost 125 gold... not 5.

You don't need Load A for Load B.

Chapter 1: Invention

Marcus glanced around at himself, making sure everything necessary was secured to his body. Yes-- his team's preliminary plans, his gun, his ammo pouches, all of it was there. Dusting off his clothes briefly, he opened the door into his sector's communal hall.

He'd seen the place countless times before, but he was a little nervous this time. He glanced down the hall, all the way down to the Invention Sector. Six doors, three on each side of the gray stone hall. He remembered his instructions-- the first door on the right. A shrill voice hailed him a few doors up the hall. Marcus recognized it as his longtime friend Aika's. He looked over, and she waved to him and trotted up, gun in its holster.

Aika: So, you ready? You have all the plans?
Marcus: What we've come up with so far, yeah.
Aika: Great! We'll go and get Danovar and Miaka and head down to the Invention Sector.
Marcus: Alright.

The two friends walked up the hall a little to Danovar's room. Aika knocked a few times, but there was no response. Shrugging, she suggested Miaka's.

They headed over and pounded on Miaka's door. The stocky gnome Danovar opened the door with a gruff salutation.

Aika: Danny! Hey! What's up?
Danovar: Eh. Miaka here's still throwing together her stuff. No clue what's in that backpack, or what's taking her so long. I was going to help her get packed, but you know Miaka. If something's not in just the right place... and with Miaka, things are never in the right place. So I'm just sitting around. You two?
Marcus: Getting ready to head down to the Invention Sector. We could meet you there, or should we wait?
Danovar: Uh... Miaka?
Miaka: Hold on! Just a few more minutes, uh, I think...
Danovar: Better you two go down there. We'll meet you in a few minutes, uh, I think.
Aika: Alright, see ya.

Aika closed the door, and the two strolled down the hall to the Sector, chatting idly. It took a couple minutes to reach their door. Already, voices could be heard from inside the other closed doors, excitedly discussing their plans with the friends that they'd chosen for their teams.

Aika: Well, shall we?
Marcus: Yeah, go ahead.

The girl opened the door. Inside was a room whose many shelves were stuffed to the brim with alchemical apparatus, volumes of knowledge, prototypes, ingredients, gunpowder, materials, and pre-built parts. In the center of the little chamber was a circular metal table, surrounded by four comfortably cushioned chairs. There was also a closed-off area for testing firearms and explosives. The two 'Sieths chose chairs and sat, Aika visibly relaxing while Marcus somewhat shivered at being in this room. No 'Sieth was allowed in here until they were part of an invention team-- 24 years of maturing for the humans, and 40 for the gnomes. The contents of the room had been something of a mystery, even a long-running joke, but it seemed nothing overwhelming now that they were finally inside.

Shortly, the two gnomes arrived, Danovar grumbling to himself as Miaka happily bustled in, carrying far too much equipment for the task at hand, as usual. They set their things down, Miaka's crossbow over Danovar's chainsword, and began to discuss what they had been planning for months. While technically a team was only supposed to start working on their invention on the appointed day, it was commonly accepted that several friends would begin conceiving and even designing their product weeks or months in advance. Of course, a well-thought out invention would take a long time to create a working prototype, and decades to improve and perfect, but there was nothing wrong with a little head start.

Miaka rummaged about her bag and produced... something. It looked like red gunpowder.

Miaka: I was messing around with stuff, and I came up with this! Isn't it great?
Marcus: Uh, what is it? And how do you know about this stuff? You don't even use a gun.
Miaka: Hey, I'm just trying to be helpful... anyway, if it works, it'll make your gun shoot a little fire out of the barrel! Just a few inches, but...
Aika: You know we decided on exploding bullets, right?
Miaka: Oh... yeah... right.
Danovar: You two owe Miaka and me big, we can't even use this invention.
Marcus: Aw, c'mon, Danny, there's two of us with guns, one with a chainsword, and one with a crossbow, it's only fair.
Danovar: Bah, alright.
Aika: So... what do you think we should modify to make the bullets explode?
Marcus: I was thinking...

a) The entire gun
b) The barrel
c) The gunpowder
d) The bullet itself

Aika: Yeah, that's true. Anyone got ideas on how to... like... make them explode?

Do you?

Maybe we can get gun powder or some other explosive material within the bullets, and trigger an explosive reaction on impact.

Aika: Possibly. What do you two think?
Danovar: I don't know anything about guns, sounds fine.
Miaka: Wouldn't that mess up the bullet? Seems like it would...
Aika: Yeah, it might do bad things to the mass and trajectory. But it might not. We can try to make one and test it. Sound good?
Marcus: Sure.
Aika: Alright, well, what materials do you think we'll need? We can test it in that area over there. I'm sure we can find most of the stuff we need, as well as some tools.

"Hmmm. Some sort of explosive powerful yet small enough to fit inside of a bullet. We should also try to figure out some sort of safety mechanism so it doesn't explode within the gun."

Aika: Yeah... a kind of bullet-sized bomb. Wait! That's it! Maybe the bullet itself could be a sort of explosive, what do you think of that?

Aika: Sure! Let's see... Miaka, could you help us look for something like--
Miaka: Like this?

The resourceful gnome held up a little pellet.

Marcus: What's that?
Miaka: If I'm right... come over here.

Miaka headed over to the testing area and hurled the little metal ball against the far wall. There was, indeed, a small explosion.

Aika: Miaka! That's great!
Danovar: How you planning on putting that into a gun?
Marcus: Like any other bullet...?
Danovar: It'd blow up in your face.
Aika: Yeah, Marcus did mention a safety mechanism. Got any ideas for that...?

Well, I don't have any sure ideas yet, but at the very least, we could thicken the barrel to absorb more of the explosion if it backfires. We'll think of a better idea if we need to.
