A half-dragon player!? I think that would give him several unfair advantages over the rest of us. Half-dragons have racial bonuses to most, if not all, of their core attributes. I'm not even going to mention all sorts of special abilities (breath weapons, natural armor, etc.) they have.
Although I have a campaign idea where the main villain is a half-dragon, however.

((I've had players try it out before,- I've also PCed a half dragon-- if you have a good DM who makes sure to add in just as many penalties as bonuses and limit special abilites it can make for a good RP. However- if any of those things is not done properly, and regulated...bad things happen. Bad game destroying things.))
(Hey DM...storyline please??)

At the break of dawn, the warriors heard a knock at their door. Groggily, they arose to see what it was.
*Using little courtesy, he opened the door to permit himself in.*
“Ah, good morning, mercenaries.
“Shall we head to the tavern to discuss this matter?”
*Again, being rude, he left on his own, as the heroes, almost in disbelief, followed him.*
*They enter the tavern, each sitting at a large circular table*
“You should know what your mission is, but I'm sure some of you have questions. I will answer them to the best of my ability.”
(Sorry, I had typed it much more vividly, but I accidentally deleted it all so I'm kinda doing it faster than before. ¬_¬
Is orange any better?
SpriteDude, feel free to make your entrance)

(I haven't really read what's happened so far, so this is all I got.)
*An elf with dirty blonde hair and blue scale mail armor walks through the entrance of the tavern, and walks up to the table.*
"I believe I heard something about a mission? Well, I am quite skilled with the bow. Mind if I come along?"

"Well he doesn't need to persistently try to act rude for God's sake," Deslyon thought, thinking about the man's manners between yesterday and today. "Oh well, I won't be getting any respect from this wretched old man. Maybe I'll get some recognition from the townsfolk at least."
*He paused for a few moments, to review the information he had for the mission to himself.*
"Any questions about the mission huh? He's providing us the funds, but just how much does this stuck up dirt bag have?"
"Yeah, yeah, right here." Deslyon interrupted, manners aside. "So how much are you expecting to give us for this mission?"

*Tala turns to the newcomer and scowls*
" Good morning Mr. Skilled with a bow, I am Tala. Might you have a name ... or does that part of a polite conversation elude you."
*Settles down and turns back to looks around the table*
"The same would go for all of you."
*Staring directly at the old man*
"I would be interested in hearing at least some details about the mission we are being sent on."

*The man shuffles about his seat*
“Well, Delyson, to answer your question first...I will be giving you all 100,000 Gold coins that may be split amongst you. It is true, I have nothing to my name. But the King has already agreed to supply you if you help these children.
“You see, they are very important. One belongs to Cynell, the only virgin of the lands. She is the holy symbol of this town. Mystery to all is how she had the child, but he is in fact hers.”
*The man shifts his gaze toward Tala*
“Details? The mission is rather straightforward. From first glance of stepping out of this tavern, you will find a line of shops, and to the left and right, villagers’ homes. The best home you will see belongs to Cynell, as the king is a strongly religious man, and provides her with what she needs more so than the others.
“If you were to go behind the tavern, to the northeast, probably not half a mile from this very town is a cavern. Kids used to go there exploring, or to prove themselves to other kids. We did not mind this, as the cave was always safe. But one day, the small group of children, around three, did not return. We waited, but it was to no avail. They went missing three days ago. I put up the poster early yesterday morning, and as previously stated, I did not expect such a turn out.
“Goblins. I'm sure you've seen at least one in your life. They're nasty buggers, who love smashing heads. Any one of us townsfolk who went near the cave could not enter, as we could hear their scowling. Some of us even got chased off. It is true that none of us can go near that cave, so we need passing warriors to help us. But the warriors of today are stuck up, and don't care about us common folk. I am pleased you will help us...”
*The man sits there, waiting to be addressed with more questions, or for the new elven man to speak*
