Krow fled. Tao fled. Success.

Krow and Tao took to the stairs, slamming closed the shutter behind them.

Krow and Tao fled the house. The pursuit seemed to have stopped.

There's a few houses and what might have been a forge.

As the two entered the sooty old blacksmith's, a lone man looked up. He quickly drew a long dirk and regarded them.

a) Talk
b) Fight
c) Run
d) ...somethin' else... I guess

[Prince Toad]

The lean, gray-haired man regarded the two younger thieves.

Man: Yes?

[ZIPPYDIPPY19]

Krow: So what's in the forge buddy?

[Prince Toad]

Man: Some rusty old metal. Might be something good in there. What's it to you?

[ZIPPYDIPPY19]

Krow: Well me and my friend here are looking for valuables, care to help a thief out?

[Prince Toad]

Man: Depends, it all depends. Where you two from?

Tao caught sight of a small symbol on his belt, a black X. He leaned over to Krow and whispered a few words describing what he'd saw.

Krow: Doesn't matter, you gonna help us or not.

How strong does this guy look, I try to size him up

Man: Probably not, not for no reason anyway.

The man looks fairly tough, but he's seen better years. Might be a little much for two unexperienced thieves, although he doesn't seem like he's going to exactly rip you to pieces.

Krow: Then get out of our way grandpa

Proceed into the forge

[Prince Toad]

The two thieves shoved past before the man could react.

Inside the forge was what one would expect in a ruined forge: rust. Rusty tools, rusty half-made weapons and armor, a rusty anvil, etc. However there were still a few well-made objects that were preserved. A pair of axes had a strange, constant glint to them, as if reflecting their own light. There was a doorway leading to a small back room, which had few contents. It may have been where the smith recorded his creations and transactions, or maybe a storeroom.

Do what?

First, go into the back room

There wasn't much to be seen. The remains of what may have been shelves lined the walls, but the records had been eaten by insects or otherwise removed from the room. A few tiny chests showed to be empty.

a) Inspect the room further
b) Go back to the main smithy
c) Something else

Inspect the room, in particular look for anything on those shiny axes

They didn't notice anything odd in the room aside from the axes. As for the axes themselves, they looked pretty similar to any other axe, except for the fact that their heads shone and they seemed to be in excellent condition, unlike pretty much everything else in the forge.

Now what?
