"Then the only reason to believe that the children are still alive is that the goblins might choose to play with their food? A pity, we should have left immediately to deal with this last night."
*Make an untrained Sense motive, the old man's story is a bit dodgy.*
"Sounds pretty straight forward, our mission is to wipe out the goblin infestation and either retrieve the children or find proof of their death?"
*Again Sense Motive or Innuendo, Are the children expected to be dead, as for political purposes?*

(To SpriteDude:
I think of Fighters as Swordsmen, and Rangers as Archers. Just keep that in mind, I don't think of them both as slightly altered warriors who wield both.
Not meaning to rush you, but you need to pick your skills and feats, as well as a favored enemy.)
*The man stares blankly at Tala for a moment, before looking him in the eye and replying*
"Your statement is true, Tala. The children very well might be dead... But there still is the chance that they survived. And mind you, one is the sacred child of the land, be it they all deserve a proper burial if they have ceased to live, don't you think?
"Your mission is in fact to wipe out the goblins so that we may go in there to bury the children, or reclaim them to their parents."

(Pace Picked)
*While walking, Tala pulls a pinch of sand and a dried rose petal from his spell component pouch.*
"I am going to use a sleep spell to deal with the first goblins we see."
*Tala motions to Elliot*
"I want you and thief to back me up and be on the lookout for Goblin archers."
"Zerra, Khalus, Deslyon; you should have no trouble mopping up the remaining Goblins, if necessary, we can retreat and refortify with the sleep spell before advancing into the cave with torches."
*He stops for a moment*
"Do you have any questions?"
(Now we wait for SephirothKirby and the other players.)

The fields north east of the towns were quiet, and peaceful. There was hardly wild life to speak of, but the calming breeze would sweep through the grass ever so often, making a soothing whistling noise. It was a plain lush, green field as far as the eye could see. It was almost unreal, with no discoloration.
(So, who wants to skip ahead)
The cavern, when approached, was a small structure composed from a mountain side. The mountain itself was in too poor a shape to climb, with bad structure, but the cave was perfect for exploring. Inside, the purplish tint of the walls made it difficult to see. Creatures could be heard scratching, if you listened closely enough, making it an interesting place indeed.
(Leave it to me to be stuck at my Dad's, without my Monster Manual or Dungeon Master Guide, or Player's Handbook for that matter 'cause my Mom had to go to the hospital.)

"Let's see...I have a few torches I keep for travelling on dark nights, but if I am to fight the goblins and any other creatures that may be lurking within this cavern, I very much prefer to have both of my hands free. I suppose I could hand a torch to someone else, such as a magic user. Would holding a torch in one hand hinder you from casting a spell?"
