Mondegreens

Say, we all have them. We all mess up, because we're all silly. What are your favourite mondegreens?

I love 'The Boxer' by Simon and Garfunkel, and for decades I heard the line as "just to come home from the warzone, seventh avenue", and it didn't detract, but it wasn't right.

And then there's that not-correct line from 'The Trooper'. Somehow I misheard "the mighty roar of the Russian guns" as "the manual of the blesséd guns", and I would just think about this...Bible of awesome weaponry. Shotties and six-guns made of damascus steel, silver and wood from the True Cross, laved in holy water and consecrated by the Pope right in the Basilica. Kind of thing Jonah Hex would have for puttin down real bastard haints and draculas, right.

I know how stupid I probably sound.

^I used to hear "The Boxer" that way too, but "wars on" instead of "warzone".

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Man. Maybe we're just more gentle than Paul Simon, the tiny man. Maybe that's us.

[EDIT: Is it not perfect that you and I have two different mondegreens of the same line of a song, and that song also contains the lyric "a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest"?]

One of the reasons I don't like music that much, especially songs with lyrics, is I can often barely understand what the hell they're saying. Some songs have the comprehensibility (is this a word?) of an 81 year old man with dementia mumbling to himself.

Yeah, it's a word. Kind of a lesser-used word, but a word.
