Been a long while...

#1

Post by Luther » Sun Jun 25, 2023 1:06 am

Hey guys.

So... yeah, finally decided to pop in and say hi. Again. I dunno if anyone remembers me, but I used to go by Cloaked Dude way back then. I mostly hung around the Neglected Characters forums. Man... this place brings back some memories. I think this was one of the first online communities I was a part of? Either that or it was GameFAQs.

Anyways, I've changed my online names throughout the years, and finally settled on Luther. Mostly a Final Fantasy XIV and Warframe player nowadays, but I still play other games too. Lately been on a nostalgia phase with PS2 and GBA games, though! Especially the PS2, just recently remembered Jak 2 and decided to do another playthrough on it.

SO YEAH, feels nostalgic being around here again! Hope things have been doing well during my absence.

Welcome back! I think I recall your name, but I didn't head into NC much. There were so many parts of VGF all buzzing with activity I didn't get to them all.

I play a lot of GBA too. Try Rebelstar: Tactical Command, it's an overlooked gem, basically like X-Com but better imo. It has a nice, anime inspired aesthetic with a good story.

Hi Luther, and welcome back!!! *gives you marshmallows* It's so lovely of you to come back and I hope you stay awhile.

Things are a little more quiet these days as the online communities change, as do people.

Heyya! I do believe I recall you as well 'w' Only vaguely though, mostly in other forums, and I don't think we really interacted directly? I think back then I was scared to approach because I was a big Pokemon fan back then pfffft (Nowadays I'm more into the Mystery Dungeon side series and the Pokemon designs themselves, the main series I have problems with the 1v1 battle system after I've played other RPGs lol)

Rebelstar... admittedly it looks a bit familiar to me, I swear I might've seen it in a gaming magazine back then, probably Game Pro. I do remember my mom giving me a year subscription to the magazines for one of my birthdays back then.

*nomfs marshmallows* thank =w=b
And yeah, I've noticed. Still, it is nice to see some familiar faces! I do in fact remember you too, I think it was around the time I started going to other forums outside of Neglected Characters, namely the Misc. Forums.

Yup! That's my old username... forgotten the old password to it, and tbh, I... kind of don't like that name anymore ^^;
It was a name back when I was obsessed with Dark Templars in Starcraft... even though I was god awful at that game lmao. I was more into the custom fun maps back then rather than playing the game itself. So in the end I decided to go with Luther as my online handle, and stuck with it ever since the change!

Man, that does remind me, I remember doing one of those "How Well Do You Know Your Admins?" back then, and actually managed to win an avatar. I think I mostly won through dumb luck tbh pffft. I do believe I set my avatar as the Dark Templar's portrait, too.

I remember those threads about the Admins. Gosh, they were different times!!!

If you want your old account back, PM me with the email details and month of birth, and I'll see what I can do. ;)

Haha, my username does come off kinda aggressive so I get that. Ironically, I actually like Pokemon too. I mostly like the first couple generations, and like you, I enjoy the spinoffs. The new Detective Pikachu seems cool.

The weird box art for Rebelstar probably didn't help sell any copies but it was...sorta memorable despite how plain it is. You probably did see it, I at least remember seeing it everywhere back then. It really doesn't do a good job of conveying the game's style or concept.

I appreciate the offer, but I think I'm fine with using a new account 'w'/ Besides, I feel like it's a name/time I want to leave behind and look back on, ya know? Of course, I don't wish to forget those times~

Heh, fair! Admittedly I haven't played the first Detective Pikachu, but I have seen the movie at least, with my little brother. I quite enjoyed it, especially how it's from the perspective of someone who never became a trainer. And man, speaking of spin-offs, I wish there would be another new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon... the remake is great and all, but dammit, I want to play as Popplio or Scorbunny! Although that makes me curious then, what's your favorite Pokemon?

And huh, I don't think it could be that ba -- OH MY GOODNESS...

Image

...Wow, I... feel like I might've seen it before, but thought it was some sort of weird movie-tie in or something...
