How'd you retrieve them?
Do you know how to get your keys back from inside your car?

I did that as a teenager once. I had to call someone else to come get me and unlock the car. They got all bent out of shape. Keys are one of those things you pretty much have to have with you, so I generally don't have an issue with not having them. With fobs, you don't even have to take them out of your pocket, so I would be hard pressed to have a reason to leave them in my car now. It should also prevent locking in that case.

I could see accidentally locking yourself outside your house. I did that a few times growing up as well, but we always had a key somewhere, which for the longest time I think was just the neighbors. I didn't grow up in a don't bother locking anything environment, but people trusted each other more.

Yes, a couple times. Once my dad came with the spare key. A couple other times I've had to call AAA.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

...I don't think I've ever locked myself out of the car.

Most places I've lived have just been deadbolts. Sister and I were latchkey kids, and only she got to have a key at first, so sometimes I got to just wait on the front stoop for someone to come home. I suppose that isn't really the same thing as locking yourself out.
