Have any of you ever had different dialects adopted into your own?

A desperate one, Boo!!!
I'm not sure... I speak how I speak... I just recently realised that I speak a lot of aussie slang without thinking. I shall ponder this...
Regarding my accent, however... I am always asked where I orginally came from. Tis usually a surprise response to my stating I was born and raised in aussieland!! More explanations always seem to have to follow... people get curious about why you speak like you do when it's different to what they are used to.
