Sega's Press Release wrote: SAN FRANCISCO & LONDON (May 9, 2006) - SEGA® of America, Inc. and SEGA® Europe Ltd. today announced Sonic Wild Fire (working title) exclusively for the Wii™. Developed by SEGA Studios, Sonic Wild Fire stars the Blue dude with the 'tude on his first solo adventure since the original Sonic The Hedgehog™ in 1991. This intense and exciting action game takes advantage of the innovative Wii™ controller as Sonic combines his trademark high-speed action with easy to play controls to offer a brand new experience!
Sonic's new adventure unfolds from a storybook of the classic tale, Arabian Nights, the last several pages from the book have gone missing, and it's up to Sonic to re-create the story. The vibrant environments provide for a refreshingly new look to the franchise filled with brightly colored mosaic tiles, glistening oases, swaying palm trees, and crumbling stone columns. Sonic activates specific areas in the prismatic environment to pull off new tricks and stunts, in addition to interacting head-on with various obstacles by jumping, dodging, and dashing.

"Sonic Wild Fire and the innovative Wii controller changes the way gamers play interactive entertainment," said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of SEGA of America, Inc. "SEGA is excited to lead the gameplay revolution through its support of Wii with a Sonic release built exclusively for this new system."

Gamers will use the Wii controller to steer Sonic and experience an untapped freedom in gameplay and control. Hold the controller horizontally with two hands and tilt left and right to steer Sonic on different paths and maneuver deftly from obstacles and enemies. Continue to tilt and fling forward to dash-attack ground and air enemies and to break down barriers. In addition to the main game is an array of unique controller-focused mini-games which make Sonic Wild Fire fun to play alone or as a multiplayer game with friends. Get ready for a refreshing adventure that puts you on the forefront of gaming!

Sonic Wild Fire will be dashing to Wii's everywhere in 2007. For more information on SEGA's Road to E3 2006, please visit the official E3 page at http://www.sega.com/e3. Edited my first post with a video link. This shows the Sonic gameplay shown at E3.

Also, Sonic goes solo on this one.

Double Post for this:

[link]

-The game is tentatively called Sonic Wild Fire as said before
-The video on that site is an ad
-Jason is doing Sonic's voice *YES!*
-Sonic has a flame on the top side of his chest...for some reason
-Sonic's being cocky again

Nothing new, but it's just showing that Sonic himself is interested in the "Wii-mote".

This is the game that has caught my interest! Cartoony Sonic! No angst! Sonic vs. Eggman!

THIS is the game that's gonna take us back to the roots! And I can hardly wait!

The video on that site is an ad.
No it's not. It's the video from the E3 conference, I just looked at it myself just to make sure.
THIS is the game that's gonna take us back to the roots! And I can hardly wait!
We'll just have to see.

it's Sonic ONLY :( no Knuckles or Tails or anyone... even my Sonic obsessed friend (VERY sad case, if i get into details even the most obsessed Sonic geeks would call him messed up) says it'll take a lot of fun out of the game

Sega never intended to leave Nintendo out. No way in hell. It's just it was easier to plan a Sonic game on the XBox360 because it was already out, then the Playstation 3 is going to be similar (Somewhat...) so it would be easier to emulate the gameplay onto the PS3. The Wii gave Sega something to think about to do, then worked on different plans.

Not much, but at least Sonic looks cool.

Some new info:

-70 missions
-Approximatively 10 hours to finish all the missions, and obviously more to obtain all the medals, hidden items, and other bonuses.
-No other playable characters. Only Sonic.
-They shifted from an extremely active gameplay scheme to an oversimplified one because they found the original too tiring. Also according to him, deep gameplays and big adventures don’t suit the Wii philosophy.
-Over 30 mini-games, playable up to four players.-Possibility to have online downloadable content.

I liked Sonic Wildfire better. It sounds more like Sonic himself.

I hope classic items will appear, like the three elemental shields and the like.

Seriously, the name sounds like a Harry Potter movie.

Sounds fun, except for the name. Sonic and the Secret Rings? Sounds weird.

I'll be getting this one. I wonder...will Tails and Knuckles make appearences(Not as playable characters, but as NPCs)?

Yeah it is, but I wish it had at least Knuckles and Tails. They're cool, but other than Shadow, the other's suck. But it's a good start, since SA1, SA2 and SH were rehashed.

^Espio>Others>Shadow

By that I meant, will Knuckles and Tails appear and play a role similiar to the ones in Sonic Rush?

Cameos are fine, personally. In all technicalities, you only played as Shadow in Shadow The Hedgehog, so it was an actual solo game. No matter what, Player 1 was always Shadow, and no one else. Even in VS Mode(which I kind of found dissapointing that we couldn't play other VS Mode characters, but whatever)

If no one but Sonic and Eggman(and any other princess/girl to save if applicable), I'm fine with that too. It still gets the classic story accross, and that's what matters! It's not like Sonic games are rehashed with almost always the same story like the Mario series.
